Datura stramonium

Datura stramonium

Datura stramonium, commonly referred to as a trumpet, trumpet, dwarf / estramonius, fig-tree, devil-fig, hell-fig, fig tree and zabumba, is an annual erect herb, averaging 30 to 150 cm of height. The leaves are large, 7 to 20 cm and have uneven teeth similar to oak leaves. Its flowers feature one of the most distinctive features of Datura stramonium: they have trumpet shapes, ranging from white to purple, ranging in size from 5 to 17.5 cm, but are constantly confused with lilies. The flowers, with the same fragrance as the Mirabilis jalapa plant, open and close irregularly during the night, earning the nickname Planta-da-Lua. The fruit has an oval shape and is covered with thorns; is divided into four chambers, each with dozens of black and small seeds. Every part of the plant emits a foul odor when crushed or tight.
