Prophet

Profeta

Prophet in the female prophetess may mean the person who is able to predict future events; or even a person speaking by divine inspiration or in the name of God. To the false prophets was applied the death penalty, in the Moisaica Law. The Old Testament book reveals before they are commonly called prophets, such people were called seers. It is a suggestive name that describes the people to whom God revealed the future events, by means of dreams, visions or apparitions of angels. They were chosen by God and had enormous religious authority and influence. Usually they were counted as counselors and teachers of God's Law. The expression "sons of the prophets" designated all those who became disciples and assisting ministers of the Old Testament prophets. The expression "the Prophets" may refer to the set of books written by the prophets. The prophet is seen as an instrument of something divine, something supernatural, where the past and present present situation is spoken. The prophet is a key figure in many religions: Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Bahá'í faith and others.
