Ensure your U.S. Passport has sufficient validity to travel!

For renewals, we urge you to plan ahead and to apply at least six months prior to your passport’s expiration. Many countries require a minimum of six months of validity to receive a visitor visa.  Airlines will not let you board a flight to these countries without six months of validity on your passport.  However, U.S. citizens may return to the United States any time before the expiration date on their passports.

We discourage you from purchasing airfare without a valid passport.

Renew by Mail

U.S. Embassy Cairo accepts mail-in applications for adult passport renewals!  The fastest way to renew your adult passport is by mail.  Please visit the Passport Renewal by Mail page for details of eligibility, application requirements and where to send your application.  You may also replace a minor or adult emergency passport by mail.  If you are eligible to renew by mail, do not make an appointment.

Emergency Travel

If you have an urgent need to travel, please contact our office via our Passport Wizard.  Passport services are not available on weekends or on Egyptian or U.S. holidays. If you do not have an urgent travel need, follow the link below to schedule a regular passport appointment.
