The Slim Shady EP is the second official release by American rapper Eminem, as well as his first and only extended play. It was released on December 10, 1997, by Web Entertainment. He introduces his alter ego, Slim Shady. The album cover shows Slim Shady, whom Eminem apparently killed in the past.
The EP received a very limited release, with only around 4,000 copies sold independently. Unlike Infinite, this album gained him much more attention and was noticed by Jimmy Iovine's assistant, Dean Geistlinger. At the 1997 Rap Olympics, Geistlinger asked for a copy of The Slim Shady EP and then gave it to Jimmy Iovine, who then gave it to Dr. Dre.
