This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest was declined. The edit request does not specify which source applies to which portion of the text. Hello, I'd like to propose several updates to this article. The subject has been involved in significant publicly documented events since 2016 that are not currently reflected. All proposed additions are sourced to reliable, independent publications. I have a conflict of interest with this article and am requesting edits through the talk page per policy.

1. Fix introduction (factual correction)

The current introduction describes Penebaker as "a member of the Democratic National Committee." The DNC Representative section of the article itself states he stepped down in June 2023. The introduction should be updated for consistency.

Current:

Proposed:

Khary D. Penebaker is an American businessman, political candidate, and former representative to the Democratic National Committee.

2. Add "2020 presidential elector" section

Penebaker served as a presidential elector for Wisconsin's 5th Congressional District in the 2020 United States presidential election. This was his second time as an elector, having also been selected in 2016. His experience casting his vote, particularly his emotional reaction to seeing Kamala Harris's name on the vice presidential ballot, was covered by NPR affiliate WUWM and the Milwaukee Independent.

In 2022, Penebaker was a named plaintiff in Penebaker et al. v. Hitt et al. (Dane County Circuit Court, Case No. 2022CV1178), a civil lawsuit brought by Wisconsin's lawful 2020 presidential electors against ten individuals who posed as fraudulent electors. The case was filed by Law Forward and co-counsel. On December 6, 2023, the parties reached a settlement in which the fraudulent electors acknowledged their votes "were part of an effort to overturn the results of the 2020 election."

3. Expand Career section

The current Career section mentions industry awards but does not name Penebaker's companies. Proposed addition after the first sentence:

In 2002, Penebaker founded Penebaker Enterprises, a commercial roofing and sheet metal contracting firm in Milwaukee. The company completed work on the Milwaukee City Hall restoration project and received the 2004 Supplier of the Year Award from the Wisconsin Supplier Development Council and the 2010 Minority Business Contractor of the Year Award from the Daily Reporter. He later served as president of Roofed Right America, a specialty roofing contractor.
