What are the inclusion criteria for this template?

I have spent a while trying to work out what this template is for, and I am struggling.

It currently contains in the same box:

• the [[Srebrenica massacre]]
• [[The God Delusion]]
• [[Seventy-Two Virgins]], Boris Johnson's 2004 comic thriller
• the [[Rohingya genocide]]
• [[Sam Harris]]
• the [[Deportation of the Crimean Tatars]]

As far as I can tell there are no documented inclusion criteria and the result is a very uneven template.

There are 4 entries appear to be plain errors:

"Sri Lankan Tamil", under Genocide, linking [[Tamil genocide]]. Sri Lankan Tamils are predominantly Hindu with a Christian minority. Sri Lankan Moors are a separate census category entirely: 12.3% Sri Lankan Tamil against 10.5% Moor. The template already lists [[Expulsion of Muslims from the Northern province by LTTE]] two lines above. So we have filed an atrocity against a mostly Hindu population under anti-Muslim violence.

"Molla Nasraddin (USSR)", this filed under 'Anti-religious'. The first issue was April 1906 in Tiflis, in the Russian Empire. The USSR was formed in December 1922. The magazine was edited by Jalil Mammadguluzadeh, a Muslim, in a Muslim milieu. Its anticlericalism was directed at its own community's clergy at considerable personal risk to the staff. It is very strange to classify Muslim reformist criticism from the Russian Empire as Islamophobia.

[[Ibn Warraq]], under "Opinion and biased news." This is a person in a list of publications.

[[Seventy-Two Virgins]], under Humour. I would genuinely like to know what criterion admits a Boris Johnson novel and excludes a myriad of other books, and whether that criterion is written down.

Moreover, the template merges three different kinds of thing: violence against Muslim people, organised counter-jihad politics, and criticism of Islam as a body of ideas. The lack of differentiation here seems unwise.

Separately, there is a run of [[WP:EASTEREGG]] problems where the displayed label does not tell the reader where the link goes.

The same article is listed twice. Under "Attacks on mosques" we have both [[Ibrahim al-Maqadma Mosque missile strike|Beit Lahia]] and [[Ibrahim al-Maqadma Mosque missile strike|Ibrahim]]. That's one incident with two labels in the same list.

A pipe deletes the word "accusation." Under Genocide, [[Palestinian genocide accusation| Palestinian Arab]]. The article is titled "Palestinian genocide accusation". Under a heading reading "Genocide", with the qualifier piped away, the template asserts as established something the target article frames as a contested claim. Whatever one's view of the underlying question, having the navbox reach a conclusion the article declines to reach is not defensible and bad practice.

Two more Genocide entries relabel their targets upward. [[Atrocity crimes in the Soviet–Afghan War|Afghan]], [[Kazakh famine of 1930–1933|Kazakh]] and [[1921–1922 famine in Tatarstan|Volga Tatar]] all appear under a heading that classifies them as genocides of Muslims specifically. I think in this example it is clear minorities were explicitly targeted, but the articles, as far as I can tell, do not unequivocally support the idea that it specifically targeted the religion over minorities in general. The target articles are about atrocity crimes and about famines. Whether these events constitute genocide, and whether religion was the operative category are serious historiographical questions that should not be litigated in this template.

There is a country entry that isn't about Islamophobia. In the "Status by country" list, every item links to "Islamophobia in X" or an equivalent, except [[Islam in Switzerland|Switzerland]], which links to a general article about the religion in that country. A reader clicking "Switzerland" in an Islamophobia navbox does not expect an article about Swiss Muslims.

[[Head rag tax|Netherlands]], under Hijabophobia. The label is the country of the Netherlands country and the target is a single proposed measure. The parallel entries for France and Karnataka link to actual controversies.

Also bare dates linking to biographies. Under Quran desecrations, [[Rasmus Paludan#Quran incidents|2019–23]] and [[Protests by Westboro Baptist Church#2010s|2011]] present as years and land in a person's article and an organisation's article respectively.

And the Molla Nasraddin entry is an Easter egg twice over: the pipe adds "(USSR)", which is absent from the article title and, as above, wrong. Seems like a genuine attempt at editorializing.

Also, [[Hindutva pop]] is filed under "Other incidents". Hindutva pop is a music genre and should therefore not be considered an "incident".

Proposal:

1. Remove the four entries above.
2. Write inclusion criteria on /doc. WP:NAVBOX's existing standard would do.
3. Add a Definitions row, mirroring {{tl|Antisemitism}}.
4. Reassess the Anti-religious row against the criteria out of 2.
5. Possibly consolidate the Violence section by category rather than by incident. Largest change, last, if at all.
6. Fix all easter eggs
