05:22 pm - Full Tilt Poker Sold Conditionally
The wicked roller coaster ride that is the saga of Full Tilt Poker took another curve on Friday as the embattled poker company announced that the French investor group, Groupe Bernard Tapie, had agreed to buy the company and all assets. The purchase includes a plan to repay all of the account holders who have money tied up in the site since the US Department of Justice filed both civil and criminal charges against the company and key figures in it.</p>
Now, before the dancing in the streets by those who have been hurt by this nightmare begins, everyone needs to take a breath and hear the fine print, and there is a lot of it. One key provision of the deal requires, “…an agreeable resolution…” with the Justice Department. It will be truly interesting to see how this pans out, as FTP has been declared a Ponzi scheme by that agency. Along with that is the fact that the leader of the group, Bernard Tapie, served seven months of a two-year prison sentence for bribing soccer players to throw a match in 1993. That is something that is going make eyebrows arch up in Justice higher that Star Trek’s Mr. Spock could ever do.
Reportedly, negotiations will commence immediately between the parties to seek a resolution which will allow for the purchase and the repayment of funds owed players. The question lingers in a lot of minds about how the investor group can take this company and rebuild it where players will come back to it after the terrible events of 2011.To read the rest of this post, please click here.

04:47 pm - Stud or Just Hold 'Em
Anyone here enjoy 7 Card Stud? That's really my favorite game. Or is this mainly a Hold 'Em group?
Yeah, I just installed Pokerstars. I enjoy Paradise Poker, and PartyPoker, too. Eric tends to hog the PartyPoker time, tho... as he tends to play money games.

09:19 am - Tournament thoughts
We've bounced around the idea of a private tournament for this group... either a traditional tournament, or a play-for-charity tournament, or maybe a split (half of the money goes to charity, half to prize pool).
If we want to do that, however, we'll need to look for another place online to play. I think most people here play on Poker Stars or Party Poker. PokerStars requires a minimum amout of cash play before you can run private tournaments (and I am only 5% of the way there), and Party Poker doesn't support private tourneys at all.
PokerRoom does, I believe, and it also supports Macs... thoughts?
