Midnight Confessions

Hi, this is a journalling community whose focus is on alternative journalling books. These are books that are sent to members for their contributions and then mailed to the next person. Anonymonity will be preserved in every way possible. The purpose of the books is to provide people with an outlet by which they can voice their fears, desires, secrets, experiences, whatever they feel they can't normally share with people. This idea is loosely based on Post Secret (http://postsecret.blogspot.com/). There will be a minimum of three books circulating through the member pool so that it will be impossible for people to know who they received their book from or who they are sending it to. A place to be truly human, NOTHING, is off limits.

In this community we have three projects ongoing, the Alternate Book Project,the Pages Project, and The Theme Book Project you can participate in any or all. We love to have people participate. All the information about both projects is labeled for your convenience.

If you want to join one of the projects please comment on either the entry about the Pages Project or the Alternate Book Project. In your comment please, please comment with your email included and tell me which project you are interested in, if you are interested in being part of any of the projects that's great, just tell me which projects and I will send you an email with all the information you need.

Disclaimer:We cannot accurately test and verify the age of every contributor nor do we wish to. We cannot control or censor the contributions of our members nor do we want to.

By participating in this community you take full responsibility for your contributions and your involvement in the projects.

We will not deliberately send theme books on adult themes (i.e. The Sex Theme Book) to those people who we know are underage. However, we are not going to check everyone's user info, by requesting to be on the list for the project you are accepting responsibility for your involvement in each project/book.

We do not know the content of the Alternate Books. But as is stated in our user info, anything goes in the Alternate Books so they very likely deal with adult themes.

By continuing to be a part of this community after this statement you are acknowledging your personal responsiblity for the projects you are involved in and the content therein.

If we discover that you have joined the project against the express wishes of your parents, you will be removed from the book lists after our property i.e. The Alternate Books/Theme Books are sent on. DO NOT JOIN if you know that your parents will be unhappy if you submit your real address to us over the internet.

We do not advocate an age limit, we advocate personal responsibility. Underage people can participate in the Pages Project, and Theme Books (Religion and Dreams) with little/if any concerns.

Participation of underage people in the Alternate Book Projects is still allowed, but we can take no responsibility for the content of these books.

We just wanted to clarify this issue for us and our members.
FAQ

Q) When does the (Theme Book/The Alternate Book/The Pages Project (and any variations thereof) end?
A) All projects are ongoing.

Q) What do I need to do to be a part of the any/all of the projects.
A) You need to email us with your real address so we can add you to the book list. In this email you must also specify which project you wish to be a part of.

Q) Can I only be part of one project?
A) No. You can be a part of any/all projects (unless you are underage and then you may not be part of a project that deals solely with adult issues i.e. The Sex Theme Book, please see community disclaimer for further information).

Q) Can I be involved in the same project more than once.
A) Of course.

Q) How will I find out when the book is mailed to me?
A) Once we have your real address we will send you an email with your book list number (you may have more than one if you are part of more than one project). We will instruct you to check the community book lists (they are all in one big post which is clearly labeled). This way you will be able to check where your number is in relation to other members of that project. Also, when the person before you mails the book, we will send you an email the day they mail the book on to let you know that it is headed your way.

Q) What do I do once I get the book?
A) You must email us the day you get the book. We will email you back with the date you must send the book on by and the address of the person you must send the book to. You have ten days to add your contribution and then you must send the book on. You must email us the day you send the book on.

Q) How do I know the address of the person I send the book to?
A) After you email us informing us you have the book, we will send you an email with the date you must send the book on by, and the address of the person you must send the book to.

Q) What do you want me to do, what is my contribution supposed to be/look like?
A) Anything goes. The Alternate Books and the Pages Project are supposed to allow people an outlet to share a secret/a dream/a desire/ a confession anything, as long as it is honest and true. You may express yourself in any way you want, you can write, paint, draw, use magazine cutouts etc. The Theme Book Projects deal solely with one theme that you express an opinion/belief etc. on.

Q)What do I do when I'm ready to mail the book on?
A)When your ten days are up, you must mail the book on. When you mail the book, you must pay money for delivery confirmation. Then you will mail the book to the address we previously emailed you. Then you must send us an email informing us that you mailed the book, and you must include the tracking number (from delivery confirmation). This way we will be able to track the book.

Q) What happens in the end?
A) During the project and at the end, we will scan all the images in the books and place them online in the community under an lj cut ;). We are also looking into reproducing the books for a cost (if anybody is interested in buying them) this is still an idea in the making.

Q) Can I take picture/scan the images in the book and send them to you?
A) Yes!!! We would love if people would email us with some images of the books so we could put them in the community.

Q) What is your email, is it okay to email you with a question or concern?

Q) Is it okay if I keep the book for more than 10 days.
A) No. It is important that we keep the books moving. If your ten days are up and you have not added your contribution then mail the book on and request to be added to the project again and we will make sure you are.

Q) If I am interested in being part of a project and I have already emailed you my real address for another project, do I need to provide it again?
A) No. But please do include your email address so we can easily look up your information in our yahoo folders.

Q) I don't want to be part of a project anymore, what do I do?
A) Let us know. We won't be upset, but we need to know so we can remove your book list number.

Q) What's the difference between the Pages Project/The Theme Book Project/ The Alternate Book Project?
A) We have specific entries that describe the differences between each of these projects. We will include tags to these pages at the end of this q and a.

Q) Can we donate money to contribute to the overhead costs of buying the alternate books/theme books etc.?
A) Yes. We will include our donation paypal button at the end of this post as well.

Q) Can we send out our own books?
A) No. We prefer to send out all the books because it makes it much better to organize everything, and keep the chaos and confusion to a minimum. :)

Q) I have a suggestion, do you want to hear it?
A) Of course. We love when our members offer suggestions to improve the community. We always look at them carefully, while we do not always follow the advice, we always consider them.

Q) Who is we?
A) We are the Midnight Confessions Creators/Moderators. :) We also prefer to remain anonymous, lol.

Q) Is my anonymity preserved?
A) Of course, we know your address, and the person who mails the book to you knows it, that's it. If you prefer not to provide your name, we will address the package to M.C.

Q) Is it okay if I make another lj account to be part of the community so none of my real friends know?
A) Yes!

Q) What do I use as the return address?
A) We provide the return address in the email you receive once you are preparing to mail a package on.

Q) I have a question and it's not on this list, what do I do?

Q) Can I post to this community?
A) We have moderated posts, and we prefer not to allow other people to post. Again, this minimizes the confusion etc.

Q) I have a great community that is related to your community can I advertise in your community?
A) Email us with the details of your community. If we think they are in fact related/we like the idea we will post with details about your community.

Q) Can I spam the community?
A) No. Please don't try, because you will be promptly banned.

Q) Can I promote your community to my lj friends/real friends/ in my lj?
A) Of course!

Q) Do you discriminate against anyone?
A) No. Anyone can be a part of the community/projects. We want diverse view points and we do not discriminate, period. We also do not allow members of our community to be disrespectful or to discriminate against other members.

Q) Do you allow members to have a vote about issues that may come up in the community?
A) Yes. Members vote for the Theme Book themes, and other questions/issues that may come up like using altered books.

Q) I have never been a part of something like this before, and I don't have any idea what to do. Is it okay if I'm a part of the projects?
A) Of course. Just tap into your creative side and have fun.

Q) My address has changed, what do I do?
A) Email us and let us know as soon as you know the new address.

Q) I just received an email informing me of the mailing date. The email says to send the book on by (fill in date here) or ASAP, but I still have (fill in length of time). Why are you emailing me?
A) We send each member of the community an email a week or so before they need to mail the book on. This email is not intended to rush people. We simply want to remind people to add their contribution. Also, if someone adds a page but still has three days to mail it, we would prefer if they mailed it that day instead of waiting three days. That way the book moves from person to person quickly. The email is not intended to discomfit anyone, we simply want to remind people to add their contribution. :)

Q) Can I decorate more than one page in a book?
A) Of course the books are quite large and there is plently of room for as much content as you wish to add.
