Community pimp post
One of the comments that appears randomly around DW has to do with community feeling and visibility. In order to promote a bit of visibility for the communities I'm a member of, and maybe increase that community feeling for a few people, here is my list of communities I'm a member of (n=35!). There are also a number of communities that I subscribe to but am not a member of -- if I remember, I'll do a post on those tomorrow. These have been grouped by level of activity. I've used the 'community description' from the profile pages (if there is one), with maybe some additional details of my own in parentheses.
awesomeers - "Defeat impostor syndrome by owning your awesome!" (daily posts for people to comment on with their achievements)
bitesizedcleaning - "Cleaning and Household Tasks" (motivational community that encourages members in a quest to clean within their personal abilities)
fandomcalendar - "Bulletin board for fests, big bangs, memes, cons and any other fan-related activity" (I find this one a bit daunting, because there are all these Things! I could be doing or contributing to, and don't)
fictional_fans - "Posts to this community must be somehow fandom-related for some definition of fandom" (originally created to be an example of how communities work, fans grabbed it and ran with it. In particular, one fan took it upon themselves to compile a list of fannish related communities)
findthatbook - Identifying forgotten book titles and authors based on details of plot, characters, cover art, etc. (Fascinating to see what people can identify, incredibly satisfying to go 'wait, I know that one')
unclutter - "Trying to get rid of one thing each day, and one for each new item brought in" (focuses more on the former than the latter. I post here a lot, and also fail to reply to comments a lot)
weekly_food_challenge - "a cooking challenge & recipe sharing community" (weekly cooking challenges)
betaplease - "Helping writers and beta-readers connect! Panfandom + original fic, all writing welcome!"
common_nature - "Share the wonders of nature that are all around us!" (mostly people sharing photos; good for making one smile)
fridaypoll - "A. Make a poll B. Take a poll C. All of the Above" (occasional, humorous polls)
icontalking - "central hub for iconmakers, find challenges, talk about icons"
onedeadplotbunny - "Working through a backlog of projects..." (support community for those with too many writing projects and not enough time; weekly posts)
smallfandomfics - "There are some really small fandoms out there - this is a place to post fics for them!"
holiday_wishes - "Sharing during the holiday season!" (highly active in December; people making gift requests)
ladiesbingo - "A bingo challenge celebrating relationships between women" (ostensibly for writers, I hang out there to read fic)[runs September to March]
bitesizedreading - "Encouragement and support for anyone who loves to read"(occasional 'what have you been reading' posts)
bodies_in_motion - "A comm for exploring the experiences and meanings of movement practices"
cookability - "Cookability -- Recipes and Kitchen Tips with an Accessibility Bent"
crochet - "For crocheters of all levels and kinds" (craft group; people post progress and project completion, mostly)
cross_stitch - "a cross stitch, embroidery and needlepoint project-sharing community" (craft group; people post progress and project completion, mostly)
do_it - "A support community for achieving goals and becoming more productive" (I liked this one, but I kind of got self-conscious being the main poster, and I didn't always come back to tick things off. Might be one that could do with a different approach?).
dw_dev_training - "for people who are just starting out in Dreamwidth development to share tips and tricks, ..." (I follow this one aspirationally, because I wanna do some contributing to open source projects)
dw_suggestions - "This is the community for discussion of suggestions for improving Dreamwidth!" (following, because I like to know what is going on)
foodlogging - "Food tracking, weight loss, encouragement, health management" (doesn't work for me, because I can't remember to log back in, might work for others?)
languageclub - "so you want to practice writing a new language? join the club!"
metaquotes - "For the posting of amusing, insightful, witty (etc.) things said on Dreamwidth."
danglypartsiple - for the sharing of of accidentally hilarious turns of phrase encountered in fanfic.
fanficrants - rants about fanfic (by the time I get to posting, I've usually forgotten the rant, so don't post it here)
faultlesspajama - "Hardware and industrial-inspired jewelry and gemstone treasures." (kind of a personal community, posts are about items being made/put up on Etsy store)
fem_thoughts - "Meta about women and/or femslash" (I'd love to see more meta....)
hp_misfitfics - "A Harry Potter Gen Fic Community"
liminal_boundaries - "Creating and supporting a safe space to talk about boundaries and consent."
permaculture - "Creating productive, self-sustaining landscapes."
sps - "Ebook reviews for small press & self-published ebooks" (I need to actually work out what I can post here; SPS == slush pile sleuths)[yes, I posted there last year, but as it is the only post since 2012, I'm counting it as moribund]
underheard - "A fanfiction rec community for underappreciated fanfiction" (most recent posts were last year, but the last one was a 'pause' that is still ongoing)

I'm always entertained by what people remember about stories, and gleeful if I recognise them.
