About Experimental Folk
Experimental Folk is a subgenre of folk music that prioritizes creative advancements. North Carolina continues to be the state where more experiments with the sound have occurred.
From the incorporation of synths to the implementation of ethereal singing, artists have taken inspiration from unexpected territories such as classical, New Age, and spiritual jazz. Folk-based music has also found improvisation as part of its transformation, no longer limiting itself to its origin.
In addition, the performing style pays tribute to the classics while adopting a modern twist. The production showcases alternative ideas that emerge from the mainstream of the current times.
