Summary

This follows up #6759 with the pieces needed to run a real booking task through OpenHuman's TinyComputer host path and see why it fails. It is the OpenHuman counterpart of TinyComputer's Kashmir demo.

  • Saved flows:
    • BrowserTask.flow runs a saved TinyComputer flow instead of planning one. That is how the Kashmir demo's passing runs were made.
    • The browser tool's task action accepts an optional flow. A malformed flow is rejected before anything reaches the module.
  • Task reports: browser_task::report fetches a task's report (TaskReport, without the trace, sent confidentially): every step, and every rescue with its outcome.
  • Live e2e (tests/computer_bali_live_e2e.rs, #[ignore], opt-in):
    • Books a Delhi → Denpasar (Bali) flight: Google Flights to compare, then IndiGo as a guest, stopping before payment.
    • Fixtures in tests/fixtures/computer/bali/.
    • It approves ordinary steps, refuses anything that pays, and prints the step and rescue report on a failure or checkpoint.
    • COMPUTER_E2E_TASK_FILE, COMPUTER_E2E_FACTS_FILE and COMPUTER_E2E_FLOW_FILE let it replay any saved task, for example TinyComputer's Kashmir fixtures, to tell site or engine drift apart from host bugs.

Live results (OpenHuman host → TinyComputer v0.7.0, Jev + planner/rescue over OpenRouter, headed Chrome)

Run Result
Module / config Loaded from the registry. Describe reports a compatible contract, and the decision, planner and rescue models all configured.
Google Flights Passes every time: open, pick the cheapest (Air India nonstop DEL→DPS, ₹32,324), verify.
IndiGo "One Way" works. The city picker fails: type to filter → INVALID_TARGET, and the page reads as "scrolled to the footer".
Rescue Fires as designed and recovered two steps in the latest Bali run, but cannot get past the picker.
Control: TinyComputer's own Kashmir task + saved plan Fails the same way. Destination picker INVALID_TARGET, then refused to press tab "Book" inside an ordinary step. The rescuer said four times that opening the form is not a booking.

So the blocker is upstream in TinyComputer against IndiGo's current site, not in OpenHuman:

  1. On the city picker, the engine cannot target the search input; either IndiGo's widget changed or the engine can't reach it. The recorded Kashmir pass attached to the person's own signed-in Chrome over CDP rather than a fresh launch.
  2. The safety classifier treats a navigation tab labelled "Book" as irreversible, and a rescue cannot override that.

These are being raised on tinyhumansai/tinycomputer. This PR does not work around them on the host side.

Testing

  • cargo test -p openhuman --lib -- modules::browser tools::implementations::browser: 54 passed. This includes the saved-flow request and the malformed-flow rejection.
  • The live e2e was run as described above. It fails at the IndiGo city picker, for the upstream reasons given.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features

    • Browser tasks can now run from a provided saved flow as an alternative to generating steps from a goal.
    • Task reports are now available after a browser task.
  • Bug Fixes

    • Invalid flow data is rejected with an error before the browser task starts.
  • Tests

    • Updated the live flight-booking scenario to use a saved flow by default, with an option to generate a fresh plan. The scenario now covers a one-way trip from Delhi to Denpasar and stops before payment.

Add a note to the Bali task fixture clarifying that the booking widget is already open on the homepage, so the test should not press any "Book" tab or link and should begin with the "One Way" option selected.

Add a `report` function that fetches the full task record including steps, collected data, and rescues without the Jev trace, so callers can inspect what happened during a run. Wire it into the Bali live e2e test to print the report on checkpoint or failure, making it easier to diagnose why a live run stopped or failed.

…ng from goal

Allow callers to pass a pre-defined TinyComputer flow to the browser task, which will be executed directly rather than having the module plan a sequence of steps from the goal text. This enables reusing a plan saved from a previous successful run, with the goal serving as an explanatory description. The flow is threaded through the task request and logged when present, and the schema now documents the optional flow parameter.

Auto-committed-on: macbook
Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>
…eplay

Adds a unit test that verifies the browser tool rejects a malformed flow before the module processes it, and extends the Bali e2e test to replay a saved plan by default instead of always planning from scratch. The e2e test now reads `fixtures/computer/bali/plan.json` as the flow to replay, with the `COMPUTER_E2E_PLAN` environment variable available to opt into fresh planning.

Auto-committed-on: macbook
Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>
Updated the test fixture for the Bali flight booking scenario to change the origin city from Bengaluru (BLR) to Delhi (DEL). This reflects a shift in the test scenario's requirements, ensuring the fixture matches the intended route for testing purposes.

Auto-committed-on: macbook
Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>
…ment variables

The end-to-end test for booking a Bali flight now reads task, facts, and flow from files specified by `COMPUTER_E2E_TASK_FILE`, `COMPUTER_E2E_FACTS_FILE`, and `COMPUTER_E2E_FLOW_FILE` environment variables, falling back to the embedded defaults. This lets the same test harness replay other saved tasks, such as TinyComputer's Kashmir demo, making it easier to distinguish site drift from host bugs.

The changes introduce the ability to run a saved flow instead of planning one, enhance task reporting, and add a live e2e test. The code looks sound and follows the existing patterns. No new issues are introduced. _The code index is behind this pull request (indexed at `e76e6d6c9a1e`), so retrieved context may be out of date._ _3 memory call(s) failed (model: cortex: v1/recall: timed out after 10s), so this review saw part of what the engine holds._

  • Conclusion: Neutral
  • Scope reviewed: all assigned evidence
  • Lane summary: This pull request adds a `flow` field to the `BrowserTask` struct, allowing a saved TinyComputer flow to be replayed instead of planning one from the goal. It also adds a `report` function for fetching task records, wires both into the browser tool and the Bali live-end-to-end test, and replaces the fixture from Bengaluru to Delhi. The behavioural changes with an external surface—the new `flow` parameter on the browser tool's schema and the `report` function accessed via RPC—are exercised by the new `computer_bali_live_e2e.rs` end-to-end test (which drives a real TinyComputer using the saved flow) and by the unit test `task_rejects_a_malformed_flow_before_the_module`. The `report` function is called from `print_report` in the live test. No e2e-uncovered, e2e-weakened, or e2e-unobservable issues were found. 📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

Browser task requests can now include a saved flow. The Bali live test can load task, facts, and flow files, replay the saved plan, or request fresh planning. It also prints task reports at checkpoints and when a task fails.

Changes

Browser Flow Execution

Layer / File(s) Summary
Accept and forward saved flows

The browser tool schema and task handler accept an optional flow, parse it, and pass it with the task goal. Invalid flow data returns an Invalid flow error. Tests cover flow forwarding and malformed input.
Configure and inspect the Bali run
tests/computer_bali_live_e2e.rs, tests/fixtures/computer/bali/plan.json, tests/fixtures/computer/bali/task.md
The live test selects task, facts, and flow inputs from optional files and chooses saved-flow replay or fresh planning. It prints task reports at checkpoints and on failure. The fixtures define the Delhi–Denpasar task and saved plan.

Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to c16e6

Fresh planning remains usable unless a flow-file override points to a missing file. This is a bounded test-harness issue that can be fixed or accepted before merge.

Security Architecture Review

Security architecture risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to c16e6

Saved flows let callers choose browser steps directly. The host still supplies origin, payment, approval, and action limits, but the available evidence does not establish that those limits are enforced throughout execution and resumption of a supplied flow.

Retained concerns

  • Medium · security · inferred: Caller-supplied flows create a new route to browser step execution, but the visible host checks only their structure and forwards safety constraints. Enforcement of those constraints on saved-flow steps and after continuation remains unverified at the downstream execution boundary.
Security review details

Security Blast Radius

  • inferred — The new independently supplied input can determine steps in a browser task running with the host's task origins and supplied facts. The visible path does not establish exposure beyond that task or a cross-tenant effect.

Security Findings and Attack Paths

  • inferred — If downstream execution fails to enforce the supplied constraints on saved-flow steps, a caller-selected flow could attempt restricted browser actions without going through task planning. This is a conditional attack path, not a verified bypass.

Trust Boundaries and Controls

  • observed — The tool rejects structurally invalid flows and checks a supplied starting URL, but its task path does not inspect individual flow steps before forwarding them.
  • observed — For a task action reported as needing approval, the tool binds a pending token to the task, action, and target, and routes confirmation through a forced host approval gate.

Resilience and Maintainability Implications

  • inferred — The host's task-ID-based resume and cancellation paths do not show whether downstream execution preserves constraints, action ordering, ownership, and cleanup after pauses, retries, or partial failures.

Hardening Proposals

  • proposed — Establish downstream saved-flow tests that exercise origin, payment, destructive-action, and budget enforcement at each step and across approval, continuation, cancellation, repetition, and failure recovery; consider step-level admission checks if those guarantees cannot be established downstream.

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Read the saved flow only in replay mode.

If COMPUTER_E2E_PLAN=1 and COMPUTER_E2E_FLOW_FILE names a missing file, this read panics before fresh planning starts. Move the flow-file read into the branch that deserializes the saved flow.
