Problem and value

Fixes #332.

When a local origin remote includes HTTPS URL userinfo (https://user:token@github.com/OWNER/REPO), githubSlug() failed to parse it, so repository evidence emitted a false repository-evidence/origin-mismatch against the canonical https://github.com/OWNER/REPO authored URL. The mismatch diagnostic also echoed the raw remote URL, which can expose credentials in Agent logs and shared receipts.

Scope

  • What changed:
    • Normalize HTTPS remotes by stripping URL userinfo before slug comparison.
    • Redact HTTPS userinfo in origin-mismatch diagnostic message and evidence.localOrigin.
    • Extend repository-evidence regression coverage for credentialed remotes and redaction.
    • Rebuild committed archify.zip so the packaged Skill matches the runtime fix.
  • What deliberately did not change:
    • Authored /meta/repository/url still requires a public bare https://github.com/... URL.
    • SSH remote forms and fail-closed mismatch behavior for truly different repos.
    • Viewer/HTML rendering and showcase geometry rules.
  • No unrelated changes: confirmed.

Stability impact

  • Compatibility and migration risk: none for existing typed JSON. Broader acceptance of already-common credentialed HTTPS remotes; diagnostics become safer.
  • Renderer, validator, package, or generated-artifact risk: Skill runtime + packaged ZIP only.
  • Failure behavior and rollback path: true origin mismatches still fail closed with the same diagnostic code; revert this PR to restore previous matching/redaction behavior.

Tests run

cd archify
npm ci
node --test test/repository-evidence.test.mjs
# -> 7 pass / 0 fail

npm test
# -> 1051 tests: 1020 pass, 31 skipped, 0 fail

# Node 22 required for canonical ZIP bytes
PATH="$HOME/.nvm/versions/node/v22.22.1/bin:$PATH" node -v   # v22.22.1
bash scripts/build-zip.sh archify.zip
unzip -p archify.zip archify/renderers/shared/repository-evidence.mjs | rg redactRemoteUrl

Visual evidence

Not applicable — validator/CLI diagnostic behavior only; no diagram, Viewer, or public page appearance/interaction change.

  • Evidence provided: Not applicable
  • Comparison conditions, when applicable: Not applicable
  • Automated or browser checks: Not applicable (no visual surface change)
  • Perceptual visual review: Not applicable

Generated artifacts

  • archify.zip — rebuilt with Node 22 because Skill runtime (repository-evidence.mjs) changed.
  • Gallery / guide / README showcase HTML: unchanged (no diagram/viewer source change).

Checklist

  • I used a minimal focused change and preserved existing typed JSON behavior unless the issue requires a contract change.
  • I ran the relevant targeted tests and npm test in archify/.
  • I added or updated a regression test for behavioral changes.
  • I checked generated artifacts and package freshness when their sources changed.
  • I removed secrets, private repository content, and customer data from fixtures and screenshots.

Thanks for the fix! I reviewed the code and ran the relevant tests—all 7 passed. Credentialed HTTPS remotes now match correctly, and credentials are redacted when an HTTPS origin points to a different repository.

There is still one gap: redaction only handles URLs starting with https://. For example, with this local origin:

http://user:FAKE_SECRET@github.com/example/other

Validation fails, but both the error message and diagnostics[].evidence.localOrigin still contain FAKE_SECRET. I reproduced this using dummy credentials.

Even if Archify does not support a particular remote URL format, its error output should still hide credentials. Could you extend redaction beyond HTTPS and add regression tests confirming that rejected URLs do not expose credentials in either the error message or diagnostic data?

Extend origin-mismatch redaction from https-only to any http(s)
userinfo so rejected remotes cannot leak secrets in error output
or diagnostic evidence. Add a regression test for http remotes.

@sunsunsun-java Thanks for the review!

Extended redaction to any http(s):// userinfo and added a regression test for:

http://user:FAKE_SECRET@github.com/example/other

repository-evidence tests: 8 pass. Rebuilt archify.zip.

Covered the remaining owner acceptance gap from #332:

  • validate accepts credentialed HTTPS remotes and redacts mismatch diagnostics (stdout/stderr/evidence)
  • preview verifies credentialed HTTPS remotes and redacts credentials on needs-fix

repository-evidence tests: 10 pass.

- validate가 credentialed HTTPS를 수락하고 mismatch 진단에서 redact
- preview verified/needs-fix 경로에서도 credential 노출 없음 확인

Thanks for the updates! This PR now has merge conflicts with main. Could you resolve them and rerun the relevant tests?

- resolve binary conflict in archify.zip against main
- rebuild packaged Skill with Node 22 so repository-evidence redact stays in the zip

📝 Summary

Summary

Credentialed HTTPS Git remotes now match their canonical repository identity. Origin-mismatch diagnostics redact userinfo from HTTP(S) origins in messages and evidence.

Compatibility

SSH handling and fail-closed behavior for different repositories remain unchanged. Authored repository URLs must remain public bare HTTPS URLs. Rendering behavior is unchanged.

Validation

The current head is clean. Static inspection confirms regression coverage for credentialed HTTPS remotes, HTTP(S) redaction, validate, and preview.

The author reports 10 repository-evidence tests and 1,055 total tests with 1,024 passing, 31 skipped, and no failures. These tests were not run during this review. Static tests do not establish browser or perceptual acceptance.

Walkthrough

Credentialed HTTPS remotes now match canonical GitHub repository URLs. Origin-mismatch messages and evidence redact URL userinfo. Tests cover delivery, validation, artifact preservation, and preview behavior.

Full details: Validation Evidence

Explanation

The change has suitable regression coverage, and the pull request correctly marks visual evidence as Not applicable. The final focused test file contains 10 tests covering credentialed HTTPS matching, HTTP(S) redaction, validate, preview, and artifact preservation. The committed ZIP contains the changed runtime byte-for-byte. However, the authored test report states 7 focused tests and 1,051 total tests, while the submitted merge head contains 10 focused tests and additional upstream test changes. No final-head CI result is available in this checkout, so the reported results cannot prove the current head. The author also reports rebuilding the ZIP, but no exact fresh-ZIP byte comparison result is provided.

Resolution

Provide a CI result for commit 6b97b75, or rerun at that commit and report current counts for cd archify && npm ci && node --test test/repository-evidence.test.mjs && npm test. Also provide the Node 22 freshness check result: scripts/build-zip.sh /tmp/fresh.zip followed by a byte comparison with archify.zip.

Redact rejected authored repository URLs.

A credentialed diagram.meta.repository.url fails validation, but the raw value is stored in diagnostic evidence and propagated in JSON diagnostics. Apply redactRemoteUrl(repository.url) before storing repositoryUrl, and add a regression test.

Resolve the overlap with PR tt-a1i#333 by retaining structured identity parsing and
its credentialed-origin support, while restoring redacted localOrigin evidence.
Unsupported origin strings remain hidden, and URL-based redaction handles
userinfo containing multiple at signs. Keep both sets of regression tests and
rebuild archify.zip from the combined source.

Validation on the merged tree: npm test 1035 passed, 27 skipped, 0 failed;
35 focused repository-evidence and comparison tests passed; extracted package
smoke passed. Independent security review passed 10 public CLI cases.
