Seeing the golden ratio! [Mar. 21st, 2007|07:41 pm]

Since I'm obsessed with this beautiful, beautiful number, I often pay attention to what I'm looking at, randomly to see if the golden ratio fits. To be honest, I think that it only exists if you choose to see it. I mean, the shell only fit the ratio because it was manipulated and the rectangles put in that order. If they were put in the opposite direction, it wouldn't fit.

Has anyone here read this very fascinating book? It goes into all sorts of very interesting and rigorous detail concerning the relationship of the golden ratio to the dimensions and orientation of the Great Pyramid.

Any other books on phi that you know about?

So I was reading in this book by Mario Livio called The Golden Ratio: The Story of Phi the Worlds Most Astonishing Number

So according to the Christian book of revelations, the number of "The Beast" or "The Devil" is 666. Right. Most know this. So anyways, when you take the the Sin of 666 degrees and add it to the Cos of (6 times 6 times 6) (which is 216) you get the negative of Phi. (square root of five plus one, all over two)

its kinda weird.

Tom Hanks (too old, too ugly) Audrey Tautou, (too young, too skinny and weak looking for Sophie) and Ian Mckellan (not at all how Brown describes the character of Teabing) were horrible choices for the main characters of the Da Vinci Code movie!
However for the supporting roles, I say good job. Paul Bettany, Jean Reno and Alfred Molina are all fantastic actors.
