Made me think...
Myles Monroe spoke in Chapel today. Something he said stuck out to me: "Where purpose is not known, abuse is inevitable. A life lived without purpose is more tragic than death, even dying young." We abuse things when we do not know their purpose, even ourselves. We misuse or neglect the potential of it. He said that God has kept us up to this point because we have an assignment. We're still full of potential and still needed on earth. There's something in us the world desperately needs. Nothing could kill Paul until his purpose was fulfilled. Then he said "I have been poured out like a drink offering... I have finished my course, I have kept the faith, I am ready to die." One of my favorite books is "Don't Waste Your Life" by John Piper and he describes the tragedy of wasting one's life on pursuits of pleasure and the life of luxury. He talks about how many times suffering brings us closer to being glad in God than times of prosperity. Myles Monroe said "I will die empty". We were born to be a blessing to our generation. We should be empty vessels, poured out for others to see; for them to arise, be awakened, and drawn to the Father. So be it!
