Debbie (voiced by Patti Harrison) is a recurring frenemy of Moon Tobin.
Two surnames[]
Debbie Gladu is initially what Moon calls her in s1e8, but she is called Debbie Van in s2e17 over the PA by Principal Gibbons, and later Moon asks his father to go to the "Van's house" to visit her.
The surname "Gladu" is pronounced "glah-doo" while "Van" is pronounced like "Vunn". Because the surname Van is of Chinese and Vietnamese origin, she may be of Asian descent. This is further supported by her appearance. She was confirmed to be Asian-American in season 4 when Carissa was revealed to be her mother.
A similar changed happened with Kima who was introduced with the surname "Brewper" in season 2, but given the surname Evanoff in a season 3 episode.
Appearance[]
She bears some resemblance to Becca Tobin as both have ponytails and wear glasses. Debbie's glasses are circular while Becca's are rectangular.
Debbie has freckles. She walks around on ice skates all the time so she can appear taller and so she always has weapons on her feet.
Season 1[]
She is the focus of s1e8 Keep Beef-lievin' Adventure where she debuts. In this episode, she is described by Henry and Moon as "everyone's crush...the most talented and beautiful girl at school. And the meanest." She is certain that there's no such thing as Bigfoot, and mocks Moon for behaving like a little kid. She is portrayed as an alligator in Moon's Bigfoot fantasy, then raps about liking Moon. When Jerry walks past the school in his Bigfoot costume to keep Moon's sense of wonder alive, Debbie is convinced that Bigfoot exists and begrudgingly apologizes to Moon—before insulting him more.
Season 2[]
In Skidmark Holmes Adventure, Moon said that she's going to Ice Skating Junior Nationals, but she didn't qualify to compete and is only going so she can throw stuff at the people who did.
She returns in s2e11 Dances With Wolfs Adventure at the Saturday Splits divorce support group, revealing her dad quit his job to record an album. It is called "Simply Ken" implying her father's name is Ken.
In Beef Momma's House Adventure, Debbie, Russell, and Henry are building a "dread sled" together while their moms are having their moms' night. They almost die, but Moon's responsibility and foresight (and fishing line) save them, and Debbie begrudgingly thanks him.
Debbie backstage in Stools Rush In Adventure
Debbie auditions for the musical The Ideal Hurricane, and is seen backstage during the play in Stools Rush In Adventure. She appears wearing a turtleneck, beanie, and fishing boots, and is presumably in the backstage crew for the show. This is one of the few appearances of Debbie without her ice skates.
In s2e17 Dead Moon Walking Adventure she is seen with her mom and a creepy doll. Moon narrates to himself that she is "my friend and my bully".
Debbie threatens to "pee punch" Moon and he tries to bribe her not to do it with $10.12. When this doesn't work (Moon blabbed on too long about seeing her with the doll) and Moon's friend reports her to Principal Gibbons, she says she has a crush on Moon to avoid punishment, and then reminds him after that she's still going to punch him a bunch.
Moon talks to Debbie's mom later and finds out she was held back by her mom to repeat kindergarten back when they lived in Death Cliff. She was small and got picked on, so her mom held her back so she'd be bigger than her classmates when they moved to Lone Moose. Moon humiliates himself in front of the whole school to convince Debbie that it would be embarrassing for her to beat him up.
Season 3[]
She accompanies Moon in the dessert heist in s3e3 Autumn If You Got Em Adventure.
Season 4[]
In Aunt Misbehavin' Adventure, Debbie is at the Lil' Preppers meeting where the kids are prepping for the Lil' Preppers Practice Prom. When Moon asks Quinn to go to the dance with him, Debbie is standing behind her and begins mocking Moon's rejection.
Debbie is horrified when she walks in on Carissa and Beef in the bathtub in Bear of Beeftown Adventure. Moon states that he and Debbie are going to "go halvesies on a memory eraser from Men in Black 3" that Debbie found on Facebook marketplace.
In Fifty Worst Dates Adventure, Debbie spends the day at the Tobin's while Beef and Carissa go on their dates. Debbie is acting unusually nice, like a "Stepford Debbie." When Moon questions her, she breaks and threatens him because he calls her "Deborah," and Moon is overjoyed that Debbie is still mean. She admits that she is on her best behavior because she likes that Beef and her mother are dating—Carissa has been happy and therefore extra nice lately, buying Debbie so many dolls that she found an arm in her breakfast and ate it. Debbie does have a mischievous idea, though—to create an epic slip & slide and ban Judy and Honeybee from using it. Her plan lands the family in an ambulance.
Season 5[]
Debbie and her hermit crabs.
Debbie legally becomes an adult and moves in with Moon in Bust a Moon Adventure. She brings her pet hermit crabs to the house.
In this episode, she is shown eating lunch with Russell, Henry, and Moon, while in previous seasons Henry, Russell, and Moon ate lunch without her. This suggests that Moon's dad and Carissa's mom dating brought their friend groups closer together.
