One of the original Green Lanterns--eventually power went to his head and he turned his home planet into a dictatorship. Expelled from the GL Corps and replaced by Hal Jordan. The two became arch-enemies as a result.

In 1972,Sinestro teamed with a sister who was an accomplished sorceress--the sister has not been seen since.
Recently revealed he had a son around 12 years old,held prisoner in an Oliver Twist-style interplanetary orphanage from which he repeatedly plotted to escape. Seems well on his way to juvenile delinquency.
