 | 02:11 pm - The Dyckman Farmhouse Museum This past Saturday, my husband and I visited The Dyckman Farmhouse Museum located at Broadway and 204th Street. It was really interesting to finally explore this little farmhouse that I pass on my bus route to and from work each day. It was built in 1784 on the farmland that had been in the Dyckman family since the 1600's. It was amazing to see in some of the photos from the late 1800's that Broadway was still a dirt road up in that area back then!

 | 01:19 pm - Old City Hall Subway Station This past Saturday, my husband and I went on a tour of Old City Hall Subway Station with the New York Transit Museum. Here is a quick summary of the tour and the history of the station:
"Special Fundraiser members only tours of the original IRT City Hall Station. Travel back in time to the early days of the subway! The starting point of New York City's new IRT subway was Heins & LaFarge's showpiece, with chandeliers, leaded skylights, a vaulted Guastavino ceiling, and decorative tile work. Opened in 1904, the station exemplified the spirit of the City Beautiful Movement."
The station was closed on December 31, 1945 because it just did not get enough people traffic coming through there and the station was too small to accomodate the length of the new trains.
It was a really interesting and informative tour! A great opportunity to see a part of NYC history that most people haven't seen.

| 08:11 pm - b/w photos of NY during 1970s Some of my 30 year old b/w photos of Manhattan were recently published in a journal for photo researchers, The Picture Professional. I am thrilled to have them in print after all this time. The link is: http://www.aspp.com/picprof/2006_2/cantu.pdf. Any comments welcome.

I took this photo this past Monday, while walking in Central Park, NYC. The picture is not the greatest quality since I took it with my phone, but I just wanted to capture this scene since it had snowed on the previous Saturday and it looked so pretty:

 | 12:29 pm - Movie Premiere @ the Pioneer Theatre, Nov. 23. Hey there! If you are interested in checking out a fun whacky flick that I did, why not come down to the PIONEER THEATRE for a few laughs. It's a sketch film with a variety of looney characters all of which are acted by me.
Here are the details: Name of Film: A Most Particularly Peculiar Bank Heist Venue: PIONEER THEATER Date: Wednesday, Nov 23rd. Time: 7:00 PM Address: 155 East 3rd street (between Ave A and B) Phone: (212) 591-0434 Web: http://www.twoboots.com/pioneer
Will our favorite zany characters pull off this daring bank heist? Or will they succumb to the evil designs of the Russian Mafia Super? Or fall into the clutches of the insane Ox Malford? Watch this bizarre adventure unravel as director, creator and actress Ms. Divine brings each cartoon character to life in this one-lady sketch film.
For more information, check out my website: www.msdivine.net. Thanks and hope to see you there!

 | 01:04 pm hi, im kaia. im new here.
i live in north jersey right now.. and need to move soon. as per my original intention when i moved back to the area; i really want this move to be into NYC or at least somewhere in the surrounding areas. so far, im mainly looking at staten island, long island, parts of brooklyn, and parts of queens.
heres my main dilemma (besides time and money issues):
-im queer ; and want to live with likeminded people (and in a safe area) -i smoke pot and want to live with people that are okay with that
these factors are making it tough to find roommates, but i know there have to be places out there that meet these criterea..
does anyone have any suggestions or advice on how to go about looking for apartment shares, roommates, etc? also, any other or maybe more relevant LJ communities i could ask in?
