Hello everyone, I'm hoping for a little advice!
I recently got engaged to my wonderful Peruvian fiance. He lives in Peru, and I am a medical student in the United States; I'm just finishing my first year, and probably have about 6 total years of training left. We're hoping that he will be able to come to the US and be with me soon.
I've just begun to understand how the application process is structured, and I have a couple questions.
1. I plan to go and visit him in Peru this summer. Would it be easier to bring him to the US if we simply get married at that point?
2. As a student, I do not have any substantial income. The current plan is for my parents to back him up with the I-134 Affidavit of Support. It looks like we don't need that until the time of the interview, but should we make sure to have all of those forms completed at the time of turning in the I-129F?
3. Will securing an immigration lawyer expedite the process, or just make it more expensive?
Thanks for any advice you might have!
