Lydia and Jackie

Jackie is the sister/friend of Debbie.  She lives at Debbie's house for like 2 years.  They both came to my Academy commencement ceremony.  They were my sisters who were there for me that day.  They're both a year older and already in college. They're like sisters.  Jackie's older sister is the one who gave me a job to work at Bushwick's learning center for middle schoolers.  Her sister is the Director and hired me.

Lydia is the name of the woman I just met at the Voting center a block away.  She's right across the street.  She's around my age.  So had to add her.  She's a black mix and pretty as well as intellectual.  But of course, she's a rep. at the voting center.

Hart & Dekalb

There are 18 of us altogether, but there should be at least 20.  I don't remember the name of the Filipina girl across the street and her Polish BFF next door.  They are a little older than Melissa and Joanna, mebbe they remember their names.  I didn't really talk to them because I wasn't really here, I was in Bayside at the time.

Anyway, Lady Jean Cosgrove is Tara Jean.

*heart*

Asian-American

My old BFF/Colleague from New York University majored in Asian American Studies.  She tried earnestly to teach me what it means to be Asian American.  Instead of doing my own classwork and homework, I spent hours reading her notes, her texts, and discussing "Asian American" identity and such.  We would always watch the film, "Tokyo Pop" because it's her fav. film.  We always went to Kim's Videos down the street.

At a very young age I always identified with "The Orient."  I didn't like saying Asian or Asian-American because it's a nuanced term that on one hand is derogatory and more importantly quite misleading.  Asia refers to a particular 'territory' in the hands of "The Orient."  So, of course, I don't like them calling us "Property."

They tried to have me look at other parts of my lineage and they hoped I would embrace others.  However, for me, as a child of the '70s and '80s, I instinctively knew that it should be "The Orient."  Also I was quite sensitive to any misdirected cruelty or anger towards those from the Orient in general.  I had decided at a young age to do what I can to teach others about the beauty and ancient cultures from the "Orient."

It saddened me to know that other competing groups were most unkind to those from the Orient.  However, I always do what I can to gently and cordially show them worlds they didn't even realize existed.

Dearest Tarajean

Greetings, TaraJean.

Season's Greetings.

I look forward to seeing you 'there.'

Almost.

But 'Almost doesn't count'/

Penny Lane — Almost Famous

However, I think you and I, Tarajean, got this on lock.

*cackles*

Have a wonderful week.

It's ok if they also want to go to Europe and choose my colour purple.  That's fine.  But they should know 'to thine own self be true' (Shakespeare).

I miss you girl

You're an original.

Dearest Tarajean

I guess you know who among my former friends, BFFs, and classmates tried to cause me egregious harm and cruelty.  You know who was true to me and who was not.

I will not ask you about those who harmed me.  I just want you to know that I realize it is most likely all of them.

Because it is only you here.

Perhaps enough time has passed that I can let go and move forward away from them.

Dearest Tarajean

I use this journal to talk directly to you, Tarajean. 'Jean'... like Norma Jean or even Britney Jean... or as I like to say... Jean Harlow... Baby Jean... Cheer up Sleepy Jean... Daydream Believer...

So I was gonna head over to your town in Austria, but it sort of always falls through :/

But perhaps you could visit me in Cadiz, Spain...

You were always a gifted child...  I'm glad that you sort of took Alyssa (Taurus) under your wing and tried to teach or at least reason with her... she's a stubborn, bull-headed girl at times...

I love chow chows too... did you give me one... it's up to you babygirl...

I'm so glad we're still together with Aries and Virgo... who they be... hmm...

Miss you

And I'm glad that you studied 'Women Studies and Gender Studies' at your reputable university.  That training will serve you well in what we have to do in Questing...

You would be a battlemage, wizard or ranger, and a druid

xoxo

White Chocolate Popcorn

  1. Prepare the popcorn
In the printable recipe below the popcorn is made using the traditional stovetop method. You can also make homemade microwave popcorn if you are pressed for time and want your chocolate popcorn ASAP!
  2. Spread on parchment paper
When popcorn is finished cooking, spread it out in a single layer over parchment paper to cool.
  3. Melt the chocolate
While your popcorn is cooling, melt a bag of white chocolate chips in the microwave, stirring frequently.
  4. Top the Popcorn
Use a fork to drizzle the melted chocolate all over the popcorn. Immediately top with festive sprinkles so they’ll stick to the chocolate as it hardens.
  5. Finishing Touches
Allow the chocolate to harden, which should take about an hour. Then, you can break it apart into pieces to enjoy. Or store them in an airtight container for later.

BEST TOPPINGS FOR WHITE CHOCOLATE POPCORN

While the white chocolate is delicious all on its own, we always like to make our Christmas white chocolate popcorn a bit more festive. Here are some ideas!

  • Red & Green Sprinkles
  • Crushed Candy Canes
  • Nuts
  • Mini Candies
