I have a few things I have to do.

I started a sweater for Owen when he was in utero...I have the back finished and that is it. It is 6 month size; he is currently in that size. I need to finish this thing so he can actually wear it. I'm feeling a lack of motivation to actually pick it up and finish.

Dave wants me to knit this for him. I don't have the right size needles. I need to get on that because he has started to actually pester me.

I really love to knit but getting started is hard sometimes.

*Remember to post pictures, if you have time, of the knit and crochet projects you've completed. We'd love to see!*

This changing colors while knitting business is hard.

The first color change was fine. I'm doing a garter stitch and didn't realize there was just no way to make both sides look perfect and was mad for a bit. I just tied it off on the end of the row. And knit the new color tail along with my regular knitting. Then the old color tail I'll weave back in. What I don't get is that the tail has to end someplace. And when it does, how will it stay hidden? Do you know what I mean?

Then the next color change I made on the wrong row, and now BOTH sides of my scarf look like the wrong side. And I tried this thing where I cut the yarn at the end of the row and sort of mushed the ends of the two colors together, thus eliminating any need for a knot or weaving in the extra tails. Only, the old color came up the sides of new color on both ends. So that was lame.

Then I changed the color again and that seemed to turn out okay.

So the thing is, I'm just not that good at changing colors.

My sister-in-law brought me a whole garbage bag of yarn from her Grandpa's house. I feel like I'm in crocheter's heaven:)

Here is my official first project created after I knitted a dishcloth, and some samples. I didn't FINISH it first, because I had to hurry and finish the baby sweater. But I started it first, and I made a lot of mistakes at the beginning. Luckily, since this was knit with ribbon yarn and eyelash, it is very forgiving. It was fun to make, and now I owe one to my other daughter. Now that I am more proficient, I think it will go faster too, and with many less mistakes (when I started this one I didn't even know how to pick up a dropped stitch). I have learned so much from these last couple of projects, and I know I have a BUNCH more to learn. But I sure am having fun!

I'm almost done with this blanket. I'm working on the border, now. It's for my son, Brad, who is heavily into chess. Last spring he finished the year out with the largest rating on his team and his team got 3rd place at the state chess championship tournament. The pieces you see on the blanket are not attached and can be used to play an actual game on the blanket. Both pieces and blanket are crocheted.

Brad's been after me to hurry up and finish the border. When this picture was taken it wasn't sewn together, yet, but I had pieced each square together to see what it would look like.

My next project is going to be a purple and pink one for Tristen.

I just found the greatest website for beginning knitters. I have trouble with a few things like increasing/decreasing; this website has instructions AND video! Yay, video!

I just learned to increase and I actually understand it, which is good for the sweater I'm making because I don't want it to be a mess.

What is everyone else working on? For those of you who don't know, I'm working on a 6 month size, blue, hooded sweater. Complete with buttons and everything! This is a big endeavor for me because I've only ever done scarves and a little hat with earflaps. Hopefully we can post pictures of our finished products and be here to encourage/help one another. It's a knitting group without tea! Or with tea, if you so choose. But not tea together. You know.

Welcome to h1s_songb1rd and charis19; they found out through my LJ.

Feel free to share websites with patterns, good pattern books, or whatever else you may find helpful.
