Alright, so I only ever read one Sonic Archie Comic and that was when I was a kid. (My mother wouldn't buy me any more, I suspect she was trying to steer me away from nerdy things. See what that got her?) However, my girlfriend has gotten me into Sonic again with a vengeance, bombarding me in the past few months with everything from SatAm to Underground to the Archive volumes and our own Sonic-based RP. But today, we picked up twelve scattered, later-issue Sonic comics (all they had, we cleaned em out, ha!). I promised myself I wouldn't read them until we'd back-ordered the missing volumes and caught up with the archives, so I could have completion and continuity.
Well, that didn't work. I ended up plowing right through them. So much for self control. And...I have a few things to say.
First of all...
SQUEEEEEE OMFG SO AWESOMECAKES THIS SERIES EFFIN' ROCKS!! I've been missing so much! -sob- So many years wasted...
Second off...in Nikki and I's RP, I'd been feeling really weird about throwing in Knuckles, Amy, Rouge, Eggman, etc. in with Bunnie, Antoine and the others. Two totally different universes, right? Ah well, we did it anyway. She assured me they'd had cameos in the comics, so it shouldn't be too odd. Cameos? CAMEOS?! After what I just read, they all seem to be permanently woven into the continuity! Snively even works for Eggman now rather than Julian, which I had thought until tonight was an original idea of OURS! Man. I wonder what other ideas I thought were original have actually become canon...
Third point of issue: Bean. WHAT THE HELL?! Seriously, there's this boring looking little green bird guy that I had no interest in whatsoever, and then he turns out to be deliciously insane and he blows crap up. He's a little green BOKKUN! I officially adore him!
Fourthly. Never been fond of Rotor. Kinda superfluous character. Tails and Chuck can do anything he can, and he didn't add much to the story. But WHOAH I love his recent design. The little glasses make me so happy! And his face isn't so dopey anymore. I'll have to see what they do with him. I Dunno, it's gotten to where everyone looks great and has developed so much in character. I don't think I'll ever like Dulcy in ANY medium. But we'll see.
YAY YAY YAY YAY YAY!! So happy so excited so SQUEE!! I need more, oh ye Gods it's like crack, MORE!!11!1! |
