LRI Art | My Eye Artistry â Artist Statement
My Eye Artistry is the visual art practice of LaGina R. Harris, rooted in abstract thinking, lived experience, and the belief that everything is connected. LaGina draws inspiration from everyday interactions, family, and community, and credits her family as her biggest support and motivator. Creating across mediums since childhood, and painting on canvas since 2010, she uses art as both expression and therapy, particularly in navigating grief and life transitions.
Her work explores balance, identity, healing, and full-circle moments, and has been exhibited in solo shows across Central and West Texas, as well as Los Angeles and Chicago. It has been featured in community and institutional spaces, and shared through ongoing contributions to nonprofits including Whole Planet Foundation, Share The MIC Now TX, Art Erotica, Nerdy Girl Success, and Melanin Minds.
Through My Eye Artistry, LaGina invites viewers to slow down, reflect, and engage with art that is meant to be felt, discussed, and shared. Her work is about connection, positivity, and creating experiences that inspire emotion, conversation, and thoughtful reflection.

Future Show Plans
Over the last several years, LaGinaâs work has moved through grief, recovery, and renewal. What began as the âMoving Into The Lightâ seriesâher journey back to happiness after her fatherâs passingâevolved into âThis Chapter of Lifeâ as she navigated the devastating loss of her sister. The 2026 MEA Art Show, now titled âIdentity,â is the next chapter in that story. Â
âIdentityâ will be a month-long exhibition exploring who we become after life changes us in ways we never asked for. Through color, texture, and layered imagery, LaGina reflects on time, relationships, sobriety, family, living fully, loyalty, laughter, true sadness, and unconditional love. The work sits honestly with grief while still reaching toward joy, wholeness, and self-definition. Â
âIdentityâ is more than an art show; it is a living record of survival, transformation, and the choice to keep creating in the midst of the unknown. Visitors are invited not just to view the work, but to see themselves in itâto consider who they are, who theyâve been, and who they are becoming.
Past Art Shows
I commissioned a unique piece from LaGina in 2020. I gave her a general idea, and she ran with the idea and made a masterful piece of art. The final piece was completed on schedule and exceeded expectations. I was blown away by what she did with very little guidance from me. Would absolutely buy another piece from her in the future!

I was able to book and plan a party with only a week of advance notice. It was more than what I could have asked for on my birthday! We laughed and enjoyed each other’s company and LaGina provided fun instruction giving us confidence in our art. Each of us made awesome unique paintings.
