This is a step-by-step guide to using EndNote 21.

What's New

Compared to version 20, there are no differences in the user interface or core functionalities of version 21. However, some new features are available with the latest version.

New Features

  • Tags (see Organize References > Tags)

    • You can add tags to references and customize the color and name of the tags. 
    • Multiple tags can be added to a reference.
    • Anyone who you share your library with can view the tags.
  • Increased sharing capacity (See Share a Library or Group > Share a Library
    • A synced library can be shared with up to 1,000 other Endnote users
  • Access to the newest online interface - EndNote Web (see Online Interfaces)
    • Installation of EndNote 21 grants user access EndNote Web for 3 years after account activation (not to be confused with EndNote Online). 
  • Single Reference Restoration (see Edit & Update References > Restore a Reference)
    • The single reference restoration feature lets users compare and restore previous versions of individual references to correct any accidental mishaps.
