MHA founded Mental Health Month in 1949 and has led the effort every May to promote mental wellness nationwide. MHA also leads other awareness days and months throughout the year and drives timely, topic-focused campaigns that promote early identification, reduce stigma, and connect people to care when it matters most.

MHA is the nation’s leader in workplace mental health, helping employers integrate well-being into their business strategy. Innovative tools

Mental health mapping

MHA’s County and State Data Map highlights community-level mental health data from more than 10 million mental health screens taken on MHA’s website by U.S. users in 2020-2025. This interactive dashboard serves as a resource to educate community leaders about areas in need of more mental health resources, assist policymakers in effectively directing state and local funding, and inform research on the country’s mental health landscape.
