Minji is the grand-daughter of famous traditional dancer Gong Ok-Jin. She was personally scouted by Yang Hyun Suk (President of YG Ent.) to join YG Entertainment as a trainee when she was in grade 6. After training for 4 years, Minji debuted with CL, Sandara Park & Park Bom as 2NE1 with their hit song, FIRE which took the charts and fans of the korean music industry by storm. 2NE1 made a comeback 3 days after promotions for FIRE ended with another hit song, I Don't Care and a first mini album which had 50,000 pre-orders to it on the first day and went straight to number #1 on the charts.
