"I make up my mind from facts and reasoning, and not to suit any body but myself. If people don't like my opinions, it makes little difference as I don't ask for their vote or solicit their opinions."
~William Tecumseh Sherman

This journal is not friends only but comment anyway to be added. I do not friend people I don't know, so speak up!

You have reached Mich’s LiveJournal. If you wish to leave a message, push one. If you’re looking for thoughtful, insightful commentary, you’re better off elsewhere. If you want to witness the Amazing Fandom Tilt-A-Whirl, you're in the right place. I add and mix and match like no one's business. Watch out for the the random pissed off rants, mind you. I am currently a 35 year-old ex-graduate student with a master’s degree in English and suffering from occasional superiority complexes and a deplorable excess of personality.

I might sound like a perpetually pissed-off person, but frankly aside from a lot of grumbling and bellyaching, I'm a pretty even-tempered person once you get past the prickly exterior. I don't bite unless provoked, and it takes effort and intention to annoy me. So don't be afraid.

However. The opinions in this journal are not up for debate. This is my space, and I’ll not have anyone telling me what I should think, feel, or say, or that what I think, feel, or say is wrong. I will not tone down my language or hold my tongue here. I am highly critical of many things, religion and politics in particular. I rant about those things and many others often, and though the previous version of this userinfo said don't tell me if you don't agree, go ahead and tell me if you want. I can't promise that if you tell me that I will agree, and I might even tell you exactly where to stick your opinion--that's the risk if you comment. I've reached a point in my life where I'm not really into mincing my words. If you happen to be a sensitive snowflake who can't stand any kind of harsh language . . . then what the hell are you doing here?

I do not friend random users who add me because they’re trying to pad their friends list. If you are a random user who’s added me for a reason, please drop a comment in one of my entries to let me know why I’m suddenly so fascinating. Otherwise, if you don’t comment, then you won’t get friended back. Ever. Easy as that.

My policy regarding the review/critique of fiction: (to quote the JournalFen TOS): "Poking fun at your opinions is not harassment. When opinions, arguments and general commentary are made in public venues, they are subject to further commentary—both flattering and unflattering. It’s the way that public opinion works. Poking fun at your artistic abilities is not harassment. If you make public a creative endeavor, you are opening yourself and the work for critical comment. Neither the constitution nor any law on record (in any legal domain that we recognize) guarantees that your creative works will never be the recipient of negative opinion." Know this before you ask my opinion on anything.
