元国語の先生が、全曲英語のアルバムを作ってみた話｜3rd Album「SUMMER Drip」ができるまで
おはようございます。こんにちは。こんばんは。
自分らしさアレンジストの、あーる先生です。
突然ですが……
自分の本音を言葉にするのって、
時々すごく恥ずかしくなったり、
怖くなったりしませんか？
14年間、国語の先生として言葉に向き合ってきた私ですが、実は自分の内側にある「触れたら壊れちゃいそうな繊細な部分」や、「生々しい感情」をストレートに日本語で表現するのが、ずっと苦手でした。
いや……
もう少しちゃんと言語化してみますね…
正確にいうと
「ストレートに表現するのが苦手」
なのではなく、
「ストレートに表現したものを、外に出すのが苦手」
でした。
どうしても比喩や綺麗な言葉でコーティングして逃げてしまう自分がいたことを、この記事を書くのが良いチャンスだからこそ、正直に書いておきます。
そんな私が、ひょんなことから「全曲英語の歌詞」でアルバムを作ることになりました。
「洋楽なんて作れるの？」
と、思われるかもしれません💦
でも、あえて不慣れな英語というフィルターを通したことで、驚くほど素直に、自分の本音が心の底のほうから溢れ出てきたんです！
日本語のプロが、
あえて英語を選んだ理由。
それは、「自分と本音のあいだに、心地いい距離感を作るため」でした。

今回書くのは、
ただの「アルバム収録曲の紹介記事」ではありません。
自分の気持ちを言葉にして外に出すことに対して、一度でも悩んだことがある人へ。
私が見つけた「別解」の話です。
1.自他ともに認める「日本語のプロ」
はじめましての方もいるかもしれないので、
軽く自己紹介をしますね🦉
私 あーる先生、
大学は文学部日本文学科を卒業。
宮沢賢治の「銀河鉄道の夜」を卒論で取り上げ、現代詩を中心に学びました。
そこから詩人として、
たくさんの日本語の詩を書きました。
雑誌に取り上げられたり、個展を開かせていただいたり、地元の地下道に作品パネルを展示したり……。
そして、新卒から2026年3月末まで14年間、中学校の国語の先生として生きてきました。
特に、日本語特有の響きや行間、韻の魅力、イメージの広がりなんかは、どの国語の先生よりも「こだわり」をもって教えてきたつもりです。
クリエイティブ（表現）で使う言葉＝日本語
それは私の中で、ずっと自明のこと。
だから最初から「英語で曲を作ろう！」と思っていたわけでは、まったくありませんでした。
2.きっかけは、アプリの仕様だった
私はAI作曲アプリ「Mureka」を使って、昨年の9月ごろから曲作りに取り組んでいます。
⭐️「Mureka」との出会いのお話は、こちら
気づけば「歌詞あり」・「歌詞なし（空間BGMやカフェ音楽など）」を合わせて300曲以上の曲のストックができました。
確実に「AIへの指示出し」は慣れてきたのですが、いっぽうで悩みも尽きず……。
というのも、
Murekaは海外製のツール。
日本語の歌詞を入れると、漢字を読み間違えたり、カタコトで歌ってしまったり……
「なんか違う」
「惜しい！」
という感じになることが多くて。
せっかく曲調もリズムも良かったのに、カタコト感が強すぎて却下した曲がいくつもあります。勝手に歌詞を変えて歌われてイライラした思い出も💦
他のクリエイターさんが作った曲を無料で聴けるのですが、試しに色々と聴いてみると、良いなと思った曲は全て洋楽でした。
・・・自分も英語の曲を作ればいいのかな？
こうしてきっかけを言葉にしてみると、
なんともあっさりしてる（笑）
でも、このあっさりした一歩が、想像以上に私の「人生の別解」に繋がる一歩だったんです。
3.英語がクッションになる心地よさ
試してみて最初に驚いたのは、
英語がワンクッションになる心地よさ。
ちょっと、
例を出して説明してみますね？
今回のアルバムの1曲目「Healthy & Sexy」という曲なのですが、最初は日本語のままで作曲していました。
夜。ノンアルのレモンサワーを飲んでいる時に、一気に初夏の海辺特有のちょっと汗ばむけど大切な時間を思い出して、 その気持ちを忘れたくないって衝動から歌詞を書いたのですが……
レモンサワーのくすんだ黄色の夜
あなたのむき出しの心を見たくなる
年中無休と茶々入れる浜辺で
あなたのくしゃくしゃの笑顔を愛でたくなる
未踏の荒野に立つ透明な旗
慎重に点と点を線で結ぶ
単なる「詩」として読む段階では大丈夫だったのに、
いざ曲となって聴いてみると……
・・・ちょっと直球すぎて、聴いてるこっちが恥ずかしくなってきたよん🦉💕！？
「大人なR&B」って解釈してAIが曲をつけて、
やけに情熱的に歌ってくれて（笑）
普段からサラッと聴くには「愛が重すぎる」感じがしちゃったんですよね💦
でも、これを英語に翻訳してみると…

・・・え、めっちゃオシャレな名曲できたんですけど！！
（私、"韻オタク"なので、ちょっとだけ書かせてくださいね。元々、私は日本語で「U」の母音で脚韻を踏んでいたんです（見たくなる・愛でたくなる・結ぶ）。それをAIの相棒たちが「sour」と「heart」、「line」と「smile」とかに変えてくれているのも、オシャレに聞こえるようになった要因の一つだと思います！）
言語が変わると、
不思議と距離感が変わります。
英語になることで、歌詞（言葉）と自分（心）のあいだにちょうどいい「間」が生まれるんですよ💡
私は詩人なので、
比喩や婉曲表現は大得意・大好物です。
でもそれは美しいけれど、
ある意味の「逃げ」でもある。
ダイレクトに言いすぎるのが怖くて、言葉をぼかしてしまっていた部分があって。
英語にすることを前提にしたら、なぜだか怖くなくなりました。
どんどん本音が書けるようになって、
それがめちゃくちゃ新鮮で楽しかったです！
「言語を変える」が、こんなにも表現の解放になるとは思ってもみませんでした。 これが、私の言う「別解」です✨
4.どうやって作ったの？
制作は以下の５ステップで行いました。
①まず日本語でいつも通り歌詞を書く
②AIの相棒4人衆（Claude・Gemini・ChatGPT・Grok）に英訳してもらう
③一番しっくりきた英訳を採用し、リズムや韻を微調整
④R&BやK-POPのリファレンス曲を参考にMurekaで作曲
⑤50〜100曲作曲させて、候補の中から1曲を厳選
最初は100曲ほど作って、ようやく「これなら納得できる」1曲が見つかっていました💦
でも、今は50曲くらいで1曲に辿り着けるようになりました。
面白いのは、英語詞にしてからのほうが、作曲スピードが上がったこと。
「国語のプロ」が「英語のほうが速くなった」なんて、自分でもびっくりです（笑）
同じ「SUMMER Drip」という曲を何回も生成します。

「行ったり来たりの人生も、またオツなものだな〜」と受けとめながら歩くときに聴いてほしい。箱根の強羅に向かう途中、スイッチバックの電車に乗ったことがきっかけで生まれました。

タイトルの「SUMMER Drip」は、7月23日（木・祝）〜26日（日）に池袋で行うグループ展のタイトルでもあります。
この展示では、特別な「ZINE（小冊子）」を販売する予定です。

「別解の教科書プロジェクト」でPMを担当してくれているえなさんに、MV制作をお願いしました🐰✨
誰かとコラボしてYouTubeをアップするのは、初めてのこと！
そして、
「人生初のYouTubeプレミア公開」も初めての試みとして行いました！

7.あなたにも「別解」があるかもしれない
私の通った大学は、
花形の学科が「英米文学科」で。
そこへ毎日「日本文学」について学びに行く自分が「ちょっと変わってるかも笑」と思ったことが何度かあります。（大学時代から別解要素あり！？）
日本語の響きが大好きだとしても。
英語に対する苦手意識が人一倍あったとしても。
一度、英語の歌詞に挑戦してみることが、あなたの「表現」の世界を大きく変えるかもしれません。
私がそうだったように。
「自分は苦手だからできない」「曲を作るならこうじゃないといけない」という思い込みの外に、実は"別の答え"が待っている。
・・・それを私は「別解」と呼んでいるんだぜ！！
このアルバムは、私自身が自分の「別解」に気づいた人生の記録。
かけがえのない、一生忘れられない大切な思い出でもある。

毎日、たくさんのスキ❤️、フォロー、本当にありがとうございます。
夜22時からのゲリラライブ的な「YouTubeプレミア公開」でしたが、計５人の方にお越しいただき嬉しかった&ホッとしました💦
また、動画公開から半日ほどしか経過していないにも関わらず、90回以上の再生があり、「頑張って作って良かった！」と心の底から感動しています！
もちろん、私を応援してくださる皆さんと直接お会いしてお話しできるのが一番なのですが、こうして顔は見えなくとも、私の作品に触れてくれたり、コメントをくれたり、プレミア公開に参加してくれたりする方々がいる。
その「見えないけれど大切な存在」への感謝を胸に、
今後も前進していけます！！
