オオタガワ　広島に自生する藪椿の中で選抜された品種

太田川 （オオタガワ）

ツツジ目、ツバキ科、ツバキ属のヤブツバキ系

広島県内に自生する藪椿（ヤブツバキ）の中から
選抜された品種のひとつである。『太田川』の名
は、広島に流れる一級河川のものと推定される。
これの発見された場所がその河川敷周辺だった
のかと想像する。


一重の筒咲からラッパ咲の形状を見せる中輪椿。
優しい花弁色で、淡いサーモンカラーが美しく
鑑賞価値が高いものであるが、ネット上に情報
は殆どない品種のひとつとなる。

Ootagawa

It is one of the selected varieties of wild-growing
Yabutsubaki (Camellia japonica) in Hiroshima Prefecture. The name “Ootagawa” is presumed
to have been taken from a first-class river flowing
in Hiroshima. One might imagine that it was
discovered around the riverbank of that river.


This is a medium-sized camellia that exhibits
shapes ranging from a single, tubular bloom
to a trumpet-shaped one. Its gentle petal
color, a delicate pale salmon hue, is beautiful
and highly ornamental, although there is
hardly any information about this variety
available online.
