【今日のエッセイ】

春の日ざしみたいに、そこにいるだけで場がゆるむ人がいます。

声を張るでも、前に出るでもない。

ただ大きく枝を広げて、いろんな人をその陰に入れてしまう。

いい人も、少し困った人も、同じおおらかさで受け止める。

トップに立たなくても、その木がいるから場所が回っていくんだと思います。

はるかぜに
えだをひろげて
おおきなき
ひとみなここに
つどいやすらぐ

【Today's Essay】

Some people are like spring sunlight; just by being there, they soften the mood of a place.

They don't raise their voice, nor push to the front.

They simply spread their branches wide and take many people into their shade.

The easy ones and the slightly difficult ones alike — all taken in with the same generosity.

Even without standing at the top, it is because that tree is there that the place keeps turning, I think.

In the spring wind,
spreading its branches,
a great tree —
here everyone
gathers and finds rest.
