Overview – The U.S. Public Diplomacy Freedom 250 Grants Program, New Zealand
We are pleased to announce that funding is available through our Public Diplomacy Freedom 250 Grants Program to support projects that strengthen the partnership between the United States and New Zealand.
This Annual Program Statement (APS) outlines funding priorities and application guidance for organizations and individuals looking to deliver impactful programs in 2026 and beyond.

What We’re Looking For
We welcome proposals that advance shared United States – New Zealand interests in. Projects may address one or more of the following areas but are not strictly limited to the following topics:
- Promoting science by reinforcing cooperation in key domains, including (but not limited to) scientific research in Antarctica, space exploration and regulatory frameworks, and critical technology and artificial intelligence.
- Advancing prosperity by promoting economic growth and innovation with a focus on biotechnology, space technology, and broader innovation sectors.
- Strengthening democratic values and people-to-people ties through programs that celebrate shared democratic principles, cultural connections, and innovative spirit of the peoples of the United States and New Zealand, including but not limited to programming leveraging sports, education, and other areas of connection.
All projects must include a clear American element – such as U.S. experts, organizations, or perspectives – to deepen understanding of U.S. policies and values.

- Funding Range: USD $10,000 – $100,000
- Total Funding Available: USD $350,000 (pending availability)
- Project Duration: Up to 24 months
- Estimated Awards: Approximately 7
Funding may be awarded as grants, fixed amount awards, or cooperative agreements.
