The Rocky Horror Picture Show is having a casting call

Annually, the Colonial Theatre hosts a live production of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Are you or someone you know interested in participating? We are experiencing an extreme lack of time-warpers for our stage production at this time. We will be having a casting call this Saturday, June 13th, at 1pm. If you are interested, please leave a comment, or email me at cattywoman(at)gmail.com

Thanks!

Phoenix returning to ashes?

No mention of this on here yet...the demise of the Phoenix? The venerable newspaper is apparently turning into a once-a-week free weekend paper, while any PVille news will apparently be covered by the Daily Local News (and not the Mercury surprisingly).

The last issue of the Phoenix I looked at was depressingly thin, with a whopping 5 ads in the whole paper. The website is pretty bare bones now too: http://www.phoenixvillenews.com/

It's not surprising, given the state of small town newspapers in 2009 and everything, just sad... My friends delivered the Phoenix in elementary school, my best friend's Mom worked there for ages...

The Anvil Experience is coming to Philly on Friday at the Trocadero. For those of you who don't know, the Anvil Experience is where you get to see that new rock-doc called Anvil! The Story of Anvil (which has been called the real life This Is Spinal Tap) and then the band performs a short set immediately following. My friends saw this in NYC and said it was the best thing ever.

tickets are still available here.

Had breakfast at the Phoenix Diner

Review contained herein..Collapse )My simple review is: More pricey than i'd like, not quite as similar to the val as i'd like, i liked all the food i ate, the decor is Nice, the waitstaff/greeters were very nice folks, I'd currently give it a 3.5 out of 5 stars.

I watched The Happening so you don't have to.

Man, was this movie awful. You're welcome.

Valley Forge Road (Rt 23) at Spring Lane. Travel that road enough times and you recognize the little things like the traffic light at Country Club Road (in the shot behind Marky Mark). Click each picture for larger pictures.

SEPTA news!

By now, many of you have probably noticed or even made use of the new routes SEPTA has given Phoenixville. Personally I think there's been kind of a give-and-take, but at least we now have 2 options to get to King Of Prussia.

Changes/Additions relevant to us:
  • Route 99 now terminates in Phoenixville, at Main and Church streets. (more info here)
  • Route 139, the smaller bus that you see around, goes between the Philadelphia Premium Outlets and KoP, via Royersford, the north side of Phoenixville, and Valley Forge Park (schedule here).

With the addition of the new 139 route, GVF Transportation has decided to discontinue its Suburban Link service, which traveled from the Collegeville Shopping Center to GlaxoSmithKline in Upper Merion, making stops at the offices of Quest and GSK in Collegeville, as well as passing thru Phoenixville and straight on to KoP via Valley Forge. I'll miss it, since this was a pretty decent route that only cost $1 one way; on the other hand the 139 kind of makes up for it by running all day. Now, if they'd just put in a line that went to Paoli...

Also, I hope you all don't mind, but I've changed the layout of the community page a little.
