I don't know what the truth sounds like
storytellers like you tend to leave that part out
I know the real you
the liar
the user
the one who spoke the 3 most honest words
anyone could speak;
with such a lying tone in your voice
from years of lies
my ears are still overflowing
your masterplan was already planned out
the first night we met
you let me fall in love with you
sucked my life out of me with your kiss
your addictions made me weak
you were secretly smiling
while tears rolled down my cheeks
(another "give-in" on my part)
you left me alone in poka-dot sheets
to start a new chapter
while you left our story unfinished
broken avenues leave the courts silent these days
our past fits perfectly in a box marked "breakable"
elmers glue can't fix things this time...
those pictures didn't lie my friend...

Edit: Of all things I forgot to introduce myself! Whoops! I'm Micah and I love poetry and literature and among other things I'm studying Literature for A levels at college. I write poetry in my spare time and this year I've started a poetry journal, I'm collecting my favorite poems I find over the year (so natrually none of my own) and am copying them down into a beautiful journal. It's my project for the year and potentially a nice gift for someone next Christmas. Anyway, here's my first poem I'll post which I wrote after a nasty break up a few months ago:

Can a tear drink in silence?

Or does a torrent silence the tears?

Is a broken heart forever shattered?

Or does chasing freedom break an old man’s back?

How can eyes weep with such sorrow?

Or does a small girl’s cry ease her pain?

Can a single soul see another one suffer?

Or does a dying planet feel remorse for its killers?

Is a hand cold at the touch?

Or does a skeletal hand force you to submit?

Does silence pierce the heart like a knife?

Or does the flesh scream an inaudible lament?

Can you tell me if you love me?

An aching heart is life’s greatest sting.

We Can Make It Right

As I watch and listen to the television

I see our own government full of corruption

They keep on telling us that it is for the best

Though they use our money for their own interest

It’s so hard to understand the world around me

We know what’s right and yet we find it hard to see

We let our superiors treat us as their own pawns

That’s why they think that we are something they can own

What has happened to the Philippines the world knew?

What has happened to those whose hearts so pure and true?

What has happened to the virtues like honesty,

What happened to the president we believed in?

Bad things became worse, and the rich became richer

What will happen to those who live a life lower?

What will happen to us who live a simple life?

Why can’t we benefit from the money we’ve strived?

I wonder what will happen in the near future

Will there be someone, a leader that would nurture?

If I will have a child, will he have a good home?

In this unfair world where many feel so alone

Choose the lesser evil, that’s what they always say

But is choosing the lesser evil the right way?

If there is still something you could choose that is good

And that would benefit the whole neighborhood

Once again, let us stand for what we know is right

We should not fear because God is on our side

Let us not make the same mistake we made before

We learned from it and now we’ll open the right door

Together we’ll support the right man, Among Ed

He is a servant of God, the man God has sent

Last time, the good people were the ones left behind

Now we have the will and power to make it right

A Needed Ending

I’ve been climbing this high mountain

The risen end’s just steps away

But something makes me want to stop

Should I give up what I have got?

I’m happy with what I now have

I’m pleased with the mountain’s first half

Why must I reach the higher side

And leave everything here behind?

Better chances, they wait for me

So I’ll go though unwillingly

I just need a little more time

To bid my friends my last goodbye

This scrapbook of mine I call “Life”

Used to have only black and white

But colors came and made rainbows

Gave happiness I’ve never known

At the times when the pages turned gray

They’d come and chase the gloom away

I wish they will be at the peak

So that I’ll be helped when I’m weak

Pictures I’ve taken from my mind

I do hope will last a lifetime

In that way, some pages can’t be

Somehow a little unhappy

It seems I’ve reached the last page

So another book, I must make

Another mountain lies ahead

Must continue the life I’ve led

Reaching the peak is not as good

As starting on the mountain’s foot

But for a better beginning

I need this bittersweet ending

No escape

Hi, I'm Emma. So I'm new to this community (and livejournal) but I love to write poetry and I love to get feedback from others (negative or positive so I can improve).
So I'd like to post a poem I wrote and hopefully get some feedback?
 

Change

I’m so sorry

I didn’t come sooner

There’s no excuse

You were sick I know

And I knew

But I didn’t visit

Didn’t call

Now no special remedies

Or cures

Can help make it better

It’s too late to save

And I find I’m left

Slowly turning around

Wondering how it got

So bad

So fast

Seeing the hollow shell

My childhood almost

Faded

It makes me wonder

How no one else can see

Are they covering their eyes

Or just

Blind?

Like me.

And now I stare

Expecting to see something

And everything has changed

The windows of your heart

Boarded up with splintered wood

Your soul battered

Moaning for help as you watch

People cover their ears

And you wait

Wait until everyone has left you

They wouldn’t even recognize you

Surrounded by all new people

You lie and pretend

That part of you never

Even

Existed

But I know

You can’t lie to me

You just stare at me

Your eyes glassy

As if to say

Where have you been?

Now look at me.

And I turn around slowly

Hoping for someone to save me

Waiting for someone else to

Open their eyes

Uncover their ears

And realize

So I sit

Pull at the grass and

Wait

On a hill as I watch

Finally alert to all

The change

I shudder and mumble

I hate change
