A week to go until Illustrious, this year's Eastercon, and the programme grids are available online. There is a poly meet-up planned for this year, it is down for 22:30 on the Friday evening. Any poly fans wanting to come along should probably grab a drink and head for Gladstone (obviously this assumes no change to schedule/location!) where we should be able to have a relaxed and sociable meet-up. The idea is for an informal, social meet-up rather than anything excessively organised, a pleasant end to the first day of the con.

For any poly peeps going to this year's Eastercon: two poly socials are planned, one on Friday afternoon and one on Sunday evening; this is basically a relaxed space for poly people to meet and chat, renew friendships and possibly make new ones.
Hope to see at least some of you there. :) |

The plan is to have an informal meet-up on Friday at 8pm in the Foyer Bar at the Cedar Court. If you know what I look like I am pretty noticeable, but if I remember I will bring a cuddly blue parrot to make sure we can be spotted. |

In case you haven't noticed, it's 2009. Which is 40 years since 1969, the year Apollo 11 landed on the Moon. How's a fan to celebrate an event like that? Why, by going to a con, of course! Over the weekend of July 25-26th, Satellite 2 will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Glasgow. It will offer the same mix of fun and serious programming as Satellite 1 did, the GoH is Iain M. I contacted LX to ask about having something poly related on the programme for the coming Eastercon and this was the response
We would prefer to have a panel item, this would be our suggestion:
"Science fiction often portrays alternate relationships and family structures, such as polyamory and extended family groups. Are these accurate portrayals of the realities of such relationships, and has SF been good at predicting future social trends?"
What do people think? Is this a good start and if so who would be interested in being part of the panel? |

I am pretty sure everyone here knows about this, but just in case...
A UK poly retreat has been organised for the weekend of November 29/30 at Blaxhall Youth Hostel
