Mental health doesn’t follow business hours, which is why we offer flexible scheduling Monday through Saturday. Whether you need to talk after work or during your lunch break, we make it work for your life.

What Makes Our Counseling Different?

Think of counseling like having a skilled guide when you’re lost in the woods. You might know where you want to go, but the path isn’t clear. Our counselors help you find your way using proven techniques and genuine care.

We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all solutions. Every person who walks through our doors gets personalized attention based on their unique situation. Some folks need help processing trauma, others want tools to manage anxiety, and many are dealing with relationship challenges that feel overwhelming.

Our Specialized Counseling Services in Calgary

Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) Counseling Calgary

Car accidents change you in ways you might not expect. Even minor crashes can leave you feeling anxious about driving, having trouble sleeping, or experiencing flashbacks. Your body heals, but your mind might need extra support to feel safe again.

MVA counseling in Calgary helps you process the trauma and regain confidence. We work with your physical recovery team to address both the emotional and practical challenges you’re facing. Many clients are surprised how much better they feel after talking through their experience with someone who understands trauma.

Concussion Therapy Counseling

A concussion affects more than just your physical health. Many people experience mood changes, difficulty concentrating, and personality shifts that can be scary and confusing. Your family might not understand why you’re “different” now, and you might feel frustrated with your slower recovery.

Our concussion counseling addresses the emotional impact of brain injury. We help you adjust to changes in your abilities and develop strategies for managing symptoms like irritability or depression. This support is often a missing piece in concussion recovery.

Weight Loss and Nutrition Counseling Calgary

Your relationship with food might be more complicated than just “eat less, move more.” Many people who struggle with weight have deeper issues around emotional eating, body image, or past trauma. Diets fail because they don’t address what’s happening inside your head.

Our weight loss counseling looks at the whole picture. We help you understand your eating patterns, identify emotional triggers, and develop healthy coping strategies. This isn’t about shame or restriction – it’s about finding peace with food and your body.

Fertility Counseling

Trying to have a baby can become an emotional rollercoaster. Month after month of disappointment, medical procedures, and uncertainty takes a toll on individuals and couples. The stress often makes the problem worse, creating a cycle that feels impossible to break.

Our fertility counseling in Calgary helps you cope with the emotional side of this journey. We support you through treatment decisions, relationship strain, and the grief that comes with infertility struggles. Many clients find that counseling helps them stay connected to their partner during this challenging time.

Erectile Dysfunction and Sex Pain Treatment

Issues with intimacy can feel isolating and embarrassing. Many men struggle with erectile dysfunction, and both men and women experience pain during sex. These problems affect your relationship and self-confidence in ways that ripple through your whole life.

Our counselors provide a safe space to talk about these sensitive topics without judgment. We understand how physical and emotional factors work together. Through counseling, many clients learn to communicate better with their partners and develop strategies to reduce anxiety around intimacy.

What to Expect During Your First Visit

Walking into a counselor’s office for the first time can feel nerve-wracking. You might wonder what you’ll talk about or worry about being judged. Here’s what really happens: our counselors are trained listeners who create a comfortable environment where you can be honest about what you’re going through.

Your first session is about getting to know each other. We’ll ask about what brought you in, your history, and what you hope to achieve through counseling. There’s no pressure to share everything right away – we go at your pace.

Many clients leave that first appointment feeling lighter, even if they haven’t solved anything yet. Just having someone truly listen and understand can be incredibly healing.

How Counseling Actually Works

Counseling isn’t magic, but it can feel that way sometimes. Here’s what’s really happening: you’re learning new ways to think about old problems. Our counselors use evidence-based techniques that help your brain create new pathways for handling stress and difficult emotions.

Some sessions you might cry, others you might laugh. Sometimes you’ll have breakthroughs, and other times it feels like slow progress. All of this is normal and part of the healing process.

The Pro Motion Difference in South Calgary

We’re not just counselors – we’re part of a comprehensive wellness team. When appropriate, we work closely with our physiotherapists, massage therapists, chiropractors, and other practitioners to support your overall health. Mental and physical wellness are connected in ways that traditional healthcare often misses.

Being located near Willow Park, Anderson Station, and the broader South Calgary community means we understand the unique stresses of urban life in our city. Whether you’re dealing with work pressure, family challenges, or health issues, we get what it’s like to live here.

Insurance and Payment Options

Most extended health plans cover counseling services, and we work with many insurance providers to make the process easier. We also handle direct billing when possible, so you don’t have to worry about paying upfront and waiting for reimbursement.

If you’ve been in a motor vehicle accident, your coverage might work differently. We’re familiar with insurance processes and can help you understand your benefits.

Our Team

I am a registered psychologist who works with adults navigating anxiety, depression, low self-worth, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, and the ongoing effects of stress and overwhelm. Many of the people I work with appear “high-functioning” on the outside, yet internally feel stuck, self-critical, disconnected, or exhausted from holding it all together.

My approach is relational, trauma-informed, and insight-oriented. I am particularly interested in how early family experiences and attachment patterns shape the ways we relate to ourselves and others in adulthood. Patterns such as perfectionism, people-pleasing, difficulty with boundaries, or feeling responsible for others’ emotions often make sense in the context of what was once needed for safety or belonging. Therapy can be a space to gently understand these patterns rather than fight them.

I strive to create a calm, non-judgmental environment where clients can slow down, reconnect with themselves, and access their own inner clarity and wisdom. Therapy with me is collaborative and paced with care. We work toward meaningful change while respecting the parts of you that learned to protect you along the way.

I work with adult clients of all genders and welcome those who are seeking deeper self-understanding, relief from long-standing patterns, or a stronger sense of self. I offer a free 15-minute consultation to help determine whether working together feels like a good fit.

Melissa is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), a Professional Member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association, and a Certified Nutritional Practitioner (CNP). Melissa’s approach emphasizes the unique needs of each client.
