Okay, last year my "I'm going to be active on Dreamwidth again!" turned out pretty fricken lackluster - I think I made like four posts - but I've been lacking motivation to write because of Life And Stuff and feel that I might write more with an audience. So to get my toes wet before I work on a project that really matters to me, I did a prompt call on my Facebook. The topic is objectum sexuality and the prompts are objects someone might be in love/lust with. My people did not disappoint and gave me a great variety of prompts. I've been brainstorming the short stories I'd like to accompany them, and this is what came out:
Prompt: Wood chipper
A vorarephile with feeder inclinations who is paradoxically repulsed by obesity finds the perfect balance of voracious appetite and unchanging body in the form of a wood chipper.
Prompt: Bass boat
An employee at an outdoor sports supply store finds the boat of his dreams at work, but cannot afford to bring his newfound love home. What will he sacrifice to buy it?
Prompt: Vampire in love with a gold gilt Victorian hand mirror
A vampire who in life was an exceedingly vain person still maintains a deep bond with a gold gilt Victorian hand mirror from their childhood despite being unable to see their reflection in it.
Prompt: Rough single-ply toilet paper
Someone with a toilet paper fetish finds the perfect roll at a gas station bathroom and steals it, then begins taking an aggressive course of laxatives to make excuses to use the toilet paper.
Prompt: Childhood teddy bear
A child develops a deep and loving bond with her childhood teddy bear while in the foster care system. When she gets ready to leave for college, her parents urge her to leave the teddy bear behind so she won’t be made fun of, but she can’t bear (lol get it bear, see what I did there?) to part with it.
Prompt: Ninja in love with potato
A ninja who has carefully nurtured a favorite sweet potato plant must save the fruits (tubers?) of his labor from the insatiable appetites of a tax collector when rice crops run low.
Prompt: Cheese grater
A chef at an Italian restaurant develops feelings for the cheese grater he works with daily but does not want his feelings to interfere with their professional relationship.
Prompt: Writing utensil that people keep borrowing
A childhood crush on a red crayon takes a turn for the tragic when the kindergarten doctrine of sharing means the object of his affection is shrinking away at the hands of his peers.
Prompt: Rapier
An esteemed fencer is caught off guard by the beauty of an opponent’s ornate rapier and for the first time is wounded in a match – love hurts.
Wooden Baseball Bat
A phthorophile has a date night at an abandoned factory with their beloved baseball bat, Ol’ Jeb.
Toaster
A woman details to her roommate the experience of her sexual awakening as a child watching The Brave Little Toaster.

BTW, you may have seen my resolution to write a drabble a day... which is currently stalled because I'm thinking about this, instead: Disabled People Destroy Fantasy -- Uncanny Magazine Open Submissions

Do you want to be in my drabble access circle?
