Hello to all!
I just joined my name's Diana and I live in Harlingen but grew up right down the street in San Benito.
I enjoy sweater weather and have recently begun to get really interested in owls!
Anyone else from Harlingen or SB???

Screenshots: 'Age Of Stupid' to play in Harlingen
Sept. 21 screening to include a panel discussion, performance from Thom Yorke
By Ryan Greenfeld
Saturday, September 19, 2009 at 12:24 a.m.
Once again, Cinemark 16 is getting a one-night special broadcast.
While the last one featured lots of laughs (the RiffTrax event), this one should have a much somber atmosphere.
“The Age of Stupid” is a documentary/drama/animation hybrid that looks at the possible future effects of climate change.
The film stars Pete Postlethwaite as an archivist in 2055 looking back on footage of real people around the world in the years leading up to 2015 before runaway climate change took place.
His character is said to be searching for reasons why more wasn’t done to avert environmental disaster.
If you’re someone that thinks global warming is just a bunch of hogwash, this one probably isn’t for you. I think it’s clear in the description and title of the movie that the filmmakers had a very clear agenda that they wanted to push.
I haven’t seen the film and can’t comment on the quality of the film or how heavy-handed it might be, but for someone who might be interested in the subject, there may not be another chance to catch it in a Rio Grande Valley theater.
In addition to the film, there will be a panel of scientists, celebrities, politicians and the film's producer and director. Radiohead singer Thom Yorke will conclude the evening with an acoustic performance of the film's title track.
“The Age of Stupid” will be showing Monday, Sept. 21 at 6:30 p.m. at Cinemark 16 in Harlingen.

Some of you may know about this, some of you may not, so I thought I'd share this info with ya:
(from the website)
We've worked out deals with some of your favorite Rio Grande Valley restaurants.
You get $50 gift certificates for only $25 - that's right, 50% off food and drinks!
Every Thursday morning, we will feature one or two new restaurants.
The sale begins at 8:00 a.m. each Thursday.
But you have to be fast!
We are only able to provide a limited amount of gift certificates per week.
Have fun and Happy eating! And keep checking back for more half-off certificates from KGBT!
From what I've seen, they only have 100 for each restaurant and some of the more popular ones will sell out in under two minutes.
This week's offer was for a place called Varikai Sushi. It's in the Mission area, and I'm guessing it's not very well known because the gift certificates aren't selling and they've discounted them to $15. So for $15 you get a $50 certificate.
I've never been there, but I figured for 15 bucks, why not give em a try. Here's that link, if any of you are interested: http://kgbt.incentrev.com/index.cfm?action=offer&offerid=11383
And on sale tomorrow is Texas Roadhouse in Mcallen, but if you want those, you've got to be ready at 7:59 am. http://kgbt.incentrev.com/index.cfm?action=offer&offerid=9509

Well... I know no one is going to be looking at this anytime soon, because MySpace has taken over cyber space.
Anyways, I'm throwing this show and it's your choice to go or go to the movies.

Halloween at the Nueva Onda Poets' Cafe.
Tonight (28 October) at 730, we will be serving up a spell of ghost stories from the Valley and all over the world. Anyone in costume will receive free dessert. This also applies to anyone who orders food. (YOU CANNOT GET BOTH DESSERTS, HOWEVER). Seconds are for sale and the price varies from pastery.
So bring you mom, sister and your brother.
And the kids as well.
It's open mic hosted by Guillermo Corona (poet/writer).
