in other words, yay!

So today I woke up around 11:30, puttered around a bit, and left to walk my puppydog around 1. We walked to and around downtown, stopping to pick up my allergy meds before going to get me a smoothie and a bagel. We sat outside on a bench for awhile, as I ate and read and talked to the adorable little moppet of about 3 who was sitting next to me. She and I talked about my dog, her cat, the movie that she and her father and brother were about to go see (Over The Hedge) and how funny the skunk looked in the commercials, and about how my smoothie and hers were the same size. In other words, she totally made my day.

Then Becky and I meandered home, where I sat around doing just about nothing until 4, when lespere-The-Awesome showed up to go through my many bags of little pieces of paper. Now, thanks to her, I have a pile of things to file, a smaller pile of things "to deal with", and a large bag of things to shred/trash. I feel so much better now. While she was here I managed to put away my clean laundry and do the dishes, and after she left I finished completely cleaning the kitchen (completely - it's really really shiny and clean and organized and WOW and I feel so good when I look into it!) and it's kinda funny, because the light bulb in there randomly burned out this evening right after I finished cleaning. But I can go *into* the kitchen and just know that it's clean, and that feels so fabulous. *Then* I moved on to the bathroom and totally cleaned that - yay! Go me! It's all shiny and nice now, too. It wasn't really that bad before, actually, but there was dust in the corners and all, and now it's gone! Yay. I've just now finished my homework for tomorrow (and turned it in - I love online assignments) and I'm almost completely ready to go to bed, with lunch made for tomorrow and my clothes all picked.

In other words - YAY!!! A productive day - WOW!!! Please send good thoughts my way for keeping it up!

Dude, it's a Friday and I'm not at work - yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so happy. Honestly though, work hasn't been all that bad lately. I mean, it's still *work*, but how bad can it be when your students run up to you and give you candy all the time? And the little girl first period buys a hair clip just like yours to copy your hairstyle (and if you think that I didn't want to make up an assignment just to give her an A right then, you're crazy), or you get at least one kid asking you about your puppy dog each period? Man, working with behavior disordered kids *sucks* compared to these guys! Well, not completely - the SBD kids tended to be more traditionally, visibly intelligent, but - they just don't act on it, like, ever. With my guys these days, I give assignments and... they do them! To the best of their ability! Right up until the end of the period! It's like I'm a real teacher and not just a babysitter! And I get to have one class a day of SBD high-schoolers to make me feel like I'm still helping, or something. So yeah, my job doesn't suck (knock on wood - if my boss sees that I'm remotely happy I'm surely screwed), but still - it's a Friday and I'm not at work! Yay!!! Time to go eat more apple pie and get ready for Lawrence's bday party tonight. I think that I'm bringing Becky - I don't want to leave her alone all evening, and she'll like seeing people, and we can always flee to a dark corner of the house if it gets too chaotic.
