Viable Paradise is about to begin, which means hunkering in the bunker.

But today the weather was perfect for the protest gathering at a very busy five-points intersection here on Martha's Vineyard, with A LOT of people and some winsomely unique signage. Lots of laughter and horn honking, and although there were two protesters for the current regime, and a couple of cars went by with passengers waving thumbs down, there was no violence whatsoever. Yay! I wish that would be true everywhere.

Interesting patterns in signage; many quotes from the Bible and from the Constitution, and so very many crowned clowns. One frog, one unicorn, and a bee. Many, but not all, were my age or older.

(I did not realize you were on the Vineyard. I am on the Cape.)

Have an excellent time! (I will be seeing Greer and Rush next weekend, I hope...)

Thank you! Likewise!

Sounds similar to the Crestline protest. Lots of 60s-era protesters, BIG turnout (apparently about 250 people, which is huge for Crestline), 7 angry people on the other side of the street waving flags that said JESUS.

I always wonder whether some of these "Christians" have ever actually read the New Testament. I know which side of the street the real Jesus would most likely be on.

Glad you could go. It's badly needed.

I just checked online to see the No Kings! attendance in San Diego (where I lived for 38 years) and it was over 50,000.

San Francisco had multiple thousands of people, and gorgeous weather. Many frogs, a cow, several T Rexes, and so much signage (I could not think of a single witty thing to put on sign, so I said something un-witty but trenchant). Being in that crowd of folks was the antidote (in the short term) to despair.

Have a wonderful VP! Give my Hellos to the usual suspects.

I was very heartened by the turn out for "No Kings." Apparently good citizens in the millions showed up, and there were also protests here in Europe.

I hope Viable Paradise is going swimmingly and that you have lots of time to walk and chat with local birds and dogs.

We had a unicorn, a frog, a couple of chickens, and a very funny chipmunk at our local no-kings protest. And almost all the cars that passed were supportive--some had signage themselves!
