Hey!
This is just a reminder that if you have a friend you want to participate in this round, you need to send a vouch email to spljmods (at) gmail (dot) com by tomorrow!
We need their username, email, and the actual vouch for them as a swapper. They will not receive an invitation without it, and there will not be a second round of invitations.
Thanks!

As I have been saying, I am doing the Lupus Walk fundraiser again this year. Woohoo!
For all my knitterly friends, I am having a thank you drawing. For every $5 you donate to the walk, I will put your name in a hat and draw for some FABULOUS prizes!!!! Those Prizes will be posted here over the coming weeks. So far there is fiber, jewelry, sock blockers, project bags! I am so excited to be able to do this for everyone as a thank you for helping me work to find a cure - because lupus sucks!!!! Seriously.
So, go to my Lupus Walk page and click on Make a Gift! In the comments, put podcast or blog or something that tells me you came from here (cause I have family and friends who don't care a bit about getting fun stuff (shocking I KNOW!!!!) so I am not including those non-knitting souls in the fun (more for you!!!!!!!!!)
My goal this year is to raise $5000. I think that is totally doable. The walk is on October 6. All donations must be received by then.
Now...for the first prize that was donated and you could win...These are the Turtle Daddy Sock Blockers available at Turtlegirl76's etsy shop. The pictured pair are the large women's/medium men's, however I am not entirely sure which size/color combo is being donated - we chatted about it this weekend, but never settled on it because, well, we were busy buying yarn!!!
I chose this particular color/size to show them off though, because I happened to paint this pair. That's right. This fairie also paints sock blockers (in exhange for vodka and stitch markers - I am easy, what can I say???)
So - go check out what else Cristi has to offer and stay tuned for more items to come!!!
Some Lupus facts:
Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease in which a person's immune system mistakenly attacks the body's own tissue.
Lupus can cause life-threatening damage to major organs such as the kidneys, lungs, heart and central nervous system.
Lupus is the leading cause of death among women with autoimmune diseases who are in their childbearing years (ages 15-45).
Women are five times more likely to die from lupus than men, and African Americans are three times more likely to die from lupus than caucasians.
That's right, folks, LUPUS KILLS!!! Yeah, I look fine right now, but I hurt and this stupid disease kills! Help me find a cure!!!
My July package was finally picked up from the post office yesterday, a mere 24 hours before I headed down to London to fly to Australia!
I love it. I want to thank siclady again for her patience with the rubbish British postal system and with me, and for her perceptive shopping! I hope we can keep in touch after this...
So, my camera was already packed (as was my cable) so I am going to have to do my best through word pictures!
ohhh my
Who's late on the bandwagon
So, it's my first time in Secret Pal and I'd say I had a lot of fun doing it. I got to snoop around journals and read surveys to find clues about what I should get my pal. I'm sure my own pal did her share of spy work, too, since all the gifts I got were amazing. I received paid patterns for a shawl I've really been wanting to make, as well as some great Fleece Artist in my favourite blue. Among the non knitting goodies she sent me wonderful things like a burnt cd, stationery, custom made magnets, coffee-scented soap, kaluha-coffee lip balm, and a bead kit. AND MY FAVOURITE TEA, which isn't sold in stores in my area.
Apologies for being so slow in thanks (although I've emailed my pal many times during the swaps to let her know where I'd be), I'm overseas with really shotty internet. When the swap started, I was in Japan, and then I was home for a month, and now I'm on a tour of Asia again, going through Taiwan, Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand. I've been knitting with my Fleece Artist this last leg of my trip!
Thanks a lot, pal. And thanks to the mods for coordinating all of this, it's been an awesome experience.
So, the post office totally sucks around here. They left no notice or anything so that I would know my package had arrived. =( But, alas, I got it! Yay! =]
My third package was this wonderful book! Thank you so much! I love it! =]
My pal was super through out the three months. =] I got to try new yarn AND she even sent me some handspun yarn, too! I loved all my packages. The books and the yarn were wonderful.
Soooo, thank you again, Secret Pal! =] It was a blast!
Just a reminder that the survey is due next Monday, August 27.
If you need another copy of the file, please email me at crazykimmy (at) livejournal (dot) com.
Thank you!
My secret pal (sender version) was so lovely! They were considerate and really really knew what would tickle me. Every package was a pleasure. Thank you so much!
My other secret pal (sendee) was a blast- she really made it easy, which was refreshing, and her feedback was wonderful. Thank you so much for your patience this last month- I know it got a bit nuts there, but I do appreciate your patience!
This was a good experience, overall, and I enjoyed it very much.

I'm so grateful!! My yarn stash is replenished. I had such a sweet pal, so thoughtful of me and my girls! Toys for them, tea for me. Stationary, beads, fabric dye....inspiring me to stretch my knitting to other mediums! I apologize for the lateness of the post, I'm having internet issues! I made a beautiful feather and fan scarf out of the purple alpaca, and am working on matching hand warmers! I will post pics once I get some therapy for my issues....

That I received on Saturday, which is perfect because my splint came off Friday night! It was a pretty awesome package. She sent all sorts of goodies! The boys absolutely love the CD (so do I, to be honest!) and the jelly bellies (no surprise there. lol). I can't wait to come up with an idea for the yarn she sent. The colors are wonderful! The vintage afghan book is already giving me ideas to add to my "someday I want to make..." list and I'm going to have to learn intarsia so that I can make some of the beautiful sweaters in the knitting for babies and kids book. There were other goodies too, those were just the highlights. :-)

Thank you so much Sarah! You put together an awesome package that totally made my Saturday!
