Probably a silly question, but . . .
does anybody know if you have to buy your own kitchenware if you live in BKV?

So when I turned on my lights Friday night to go home from visiting friends that evening, the lights behind my dashboard were completely gone, except for my gas gage. Luckily, I could kind of see the glow of my speedometer needle, so I made it home okay without speeding or anything.

So.
I'm wondering if anyone knows of a reputable place in town that could fix this problem for me, and how much the tab would set me back.

It's a Ford, so is there a nearby dealership that might do it for me?

Hairstylist needed!
Can someone recommend a decent, somewhat trendier place to get my hair cut in Huntsville?
I prefer Aveda salons if there are any, and I can't have it exceed 35 bucks.
I don't have to be an aveda salon. And those little cheapy places make me nervous, so if one of those places is good, let me know about it and the stylist you usually go to. Make me feel good about it.
I just can't justify spending an arm and a leg on gas to get a 45 dollar cut with my usual stylist at home.

OR! If anyone is from the west side of houston, I'm going to visit some family this weekend, maybe I can get it done then!
Please leave details if they can't be found in the Huntsville phonebook.

Thanks!

LSF (Lutheran Student Fellowship) of SHSU is going to go to the UH game on Saturday and afterward will go to the Astrodome (just down the street from where the game will be held) to help the refugees. If you would like to go leave me a comment and I'll let our prez know.

Attention!
Alright.

Here's the deal. I'm pretty sure this doesn't relate to some of the SHSU communities I'm involved in, but it does have to do with getting the campus involved as a whole.

I want SHSU to raise mass amounts of money. I realize we're college students, and we're all living off of loans, but Hurricane Katrina very easily could have kept going west and hit Houston and gone right through Huntsville.
We need to find a way to raise money to donate to Red Cross and Habitat for Humanity and other non-profit organizations.
I'm looking for people who are truly interested in helping me out here. I'm a freshman and I don't really know where I can begin to start doing this.
Are there any particular student groups I could get involved with that might be willing to back me on this? Does anyone care to join me?

For those of you reading my personal blog, are there any ideas I should invest time into?
Please help me help others here. This very easily could have been us.

Feel free to facebook me or to email me at jlb008 at shsu dot edu.

I'm at 257.02, which means I'm below average, and I still have three more to go!

Also, one of my classes suggests 26 Italian Songs and Arias, and I have the 24 version, how easy would it be to just have those other two copied from someone else?

Feel free to comment if you live in Texas, preferably in the Austin area, or are going to Sam Houston.
Or email me at jennerbecker at gmail dot com

Hey folks!

My name is Jennifer and I'll start at Sam this fall as a music major. I just thought I'd get into some shsu communities to maybe meet some people and get some info from people with experience whenever I need it.

Anyway, I just thought I'd say hello.

SGA Elections
Make sure you vote in the SGA general election tommorrow, May 3rd between 8 AM and 6 PM on the SHSU.edu web site. These are your student body leaders and they will be directing the progress of the university for the next year if they are elected. The previous election was thrown out if you recall due to illegal procedures by the Election Commission and two declinations by one of the Presidential candidates.

I encourage you to vote for Amelia Lesniak for President, Cory Garcia as Vice President, Josh Davis as Secretary and Justin Hill as Treasurer. They represent the "New Party".

Awesome weekend! :)
Man, this weekend was awesome. :) "All-Campus" rocked!!
First, I traveled w/ Cookie to the camp ("Lakeside Methodist Camp," something like that!), & we got there @ like 7:30 (we all stopped in Buffalo to eat ... We were in the Palestine/Elkhart, Tx area). When we got there, it was sort of waiting around til EVERY ONE got there - from all the schools. The schools were SHSU (mine, duh!), TAMU, Prarie View A&M, all the colleges/universities in Galveston, TSU, Lamar, & SFA. Wowsers, about 100 people. SALT had like 500, but you have to keep in mind THAT ... the Methodist religion is HONESTLY not very popular. However, I like it, & I like the people in it.
The first night, we had the worship/message. The music was leaning towards gospel, which is fine BUT I don't know very much. It's cool, though, b/c I know some now! :) Also, we played games after that - like, Guesstures/etc. Devorah & I went walking at night w/ some people we met from Galveston (whom became our friends through the weekend, while there). Their names are Gabe, Ranjana, & Johnathan. Actually, Gabe/Ranjana/Dev/I all went walking, & Johnathan was hiding along the trail, to jump out & scare us (I thought he was a tree stump or something! I am so BLIND! Also, I tripped like three times through small sand piles & such along the way, & I was wearing flip flops! You guys KNOW I am clumsy!) ;) Anyway, so we did that ... & it was great. The FIRST night we met these folks, we went walking w/ them (me & Dev), & we ended up praying w/ them. God DEF. planned that. As Johnathan said while praying, "Lord, we don't know these girls, but ... we KNOW them." I take it that he meant that they knew us b/c they knew Jesus, & Jesus is in us. :)
The lake was so beautiful! In the middle of it, there was a cross floating on a patch of land. Wowsers ... So symbolic. Of how w/ God, "we float," just as the cross was doing! :) The food was good ... I felt like I ate TONS, which I did, but it's all good! :) & I was always HYPER ... My ADD has been taken to a new level. Hehe ...
I met like 5 other people. I liked building relationships, like I think I have. I def. have to go visit the SFA & the A&M Wesleys .... I am so busy as a college student, so I NEED to make plans to do that! :)
The main messages I think I learned from this weekend are the following (These are my OWN observations, so you may comment on them, but please don't knock me for them! Thanks):

1.) Women are the same as men in the ministry!!
2.) God is ALWAYS w/ us ... Meaning, we better ALWAYS be walking w/ Him! Amen! :)
3.) My focus DEF. needs to be re-aligned on God. I think I am gonna take a sabattical (spelling?) from guys, for like 6 mths. It's for the best ..... No dating, no crushing (if I can help it). Please hold me accountable, guys! I want God so much, I am burning for Him. I want Him fully, w/ no hinderance. Guys are my hinderance!

Anyway, it was a good weekend! :) I hope that yours were good, too. God bless! :)

Woohoo
Today, my parents & I are going to be traveling about 4 - 5 hrs to Norman, Oklahoma, which is just about 5 or 10 min. over the Oklahoma boarder. We're g2g see my aunt/uncle/cousins/grandpa & I've not seen them since Christmas, so I am sooo excited! :) Guys, please pray that this trip goes well, that I ACTUALLY get some hw done this weekend (haha), & that when I do read my cousins their Children's Bible @ night (before bed), they actually listen to it & like it. :) Please pray that I get there alright, as well, b/c it's been raining like mad here in the Houston area (don't know about up there)!
