ello!
This is the last chance to be part of a new book published by Small Potatoes Press - MOTHERS KNOW BEST: 1001 MOMS SHARE THEIR TIPS ON PREGNANCY, BIRTH, AND THE FIRST YEAR, a collection of the best advice from experienced moms. The final deadline is October 15, 2004!
The book will be available nationwide in May 2005 and a portion of the sale of every book will go directly to the March of Dimes to aid in their fight to save babies from birth defects and premature birth.
We're looking for the suggestions and tips — both practical and psychological — that will help new moms adjust and enjoy pregnancy, birth and parenthood during baby's first year. We especially need tips about work issues both before and after baby, surviving bedrest and your own baby shower, must reads and must haves, and introducing solids. A suggested subject list can be found at http://www.mothersknowbest.net
Each contributor's name and, optionally, their professional information and children's names will be listed with their tips. Please fill out the submission form at http://www.mothersknowbest.net
Thanks in advance for your consideration and wisdom. If you have any questions please e-mail our staff moms at HeadMom@mothersknowbest.net or call 856-869-5207.
Regards, Connie Correia Fisher Publisher, Small Potatoes Press
P.S. We can also accept tips about raising happy toddlers, preschoolers, adopted children, special needs children, and teens.

I just wanted to say a quick hello. I'm a happily-divorced mom living in Delran with my eight-year-old son, Ace. We're just starting homeschooling this year -- I work full-time in my family's business, but I'm determined to make it work.
I can't think of anything I specifically need at this point. Maybe clothing -- I'm a S/M and very short (5'1") and Ace is about a size 8/10. Also, anyone who can hook me up with good homeschooling resources would be great, too!
If you all post things you're looking for, I'll see what I can find. For one thing, I have Ace's old bike that he's barely ridden -- I'd say it's a good size for a five-year-old.
Mostly, I just wanted to say hi and connect with other likeminded mamas in the area. It tends to be *really* conservative around here!

I just realized that I never posted a proper intro to the group! sorry!
My name is Kathy, and I'm a stay-at-home-mom, occasional-work-for-money-either-from-home-or-elsewhere, depending on the day and how broke we are. I have a husband and 3 kids: Alejandro, 2 1/2, and twin girls, Nieves and Paloma, who are almost 6 months old. We live in Collingswood.
I am a massage therapist by trade, and specialize in prenatal and infant wellness - prenatal massage & nutritional counseling as well as teaching newborn massage workshops. I also perform and teach Reiki and am working towards Reflexology certification as well. For barter purposes, I can do all manner of administrative work and/or cleaning and/or babysitting, although massage is always my first preference!
Additionally, I am an "at-home" consultant for The Body Shop and can arrange in-home "spa parties." It's vaguely like any other pampered chef/mary kay kind of deal, except it uses Body Shop products, and you can have your choice of face, spa, or foot parties. I encourage people to really sit back and enjoy it - especially as mothers, bust out some tasty snacks and really take care of ourselves for once! (This I can do without swapping, of course!) It's got some cool perks for the host, lots of free products, that kind of thing. /sales talk!
A big thanks to lovesprout for starting this - I have noticed since moving to this area that there are little pockets of mama communties, but I'd love to see something more coherent and supportive.

My name's Shyama and I'm not officially in the SJ area, but Lovesprout was kind enough to let me join : ) Thank you Lovesprout! I'm a blissed out mommy to a 4 1/2 month old son, whose name is Ramachandra (I call him Rama or Dawlbabie). Hubby and I want to have at least 1 if not 2 more babies. We'll see what the good Lord has in store for us. I would be interested in bartering some things I have. I'm interested in obtaining unused or gently used baby boy clothing. I can offer you the following in return:
*cds *a camera (not digital, but a REALLY good quality one with automatic flash, built in zoom lens, and used only on one occasion) *photo albums *advice and tips on health and beauty care (I'm not a licensed cosmetologist, but I did complete several classes on skin care, body care, exercise, and herbology) I could even set up a weekly e-mail system with you and give you new tips each week or something like that. *cookbooks and recipes *a pair of pink newborn baby girl shoes (for this you can trade a pair of 3-6 month baby boy shoes or a 3-6 month onesie)
That's all for now. If I think of more stuff I have, I'll post it.

Hi, My name is Ananga. My husband and I have been married for 4 years and have a sweetie 13 month old son named Nava. We hope to have more children.
We moved from NYC when our son was barely 3 weeks old. We've been living in Sicklerville for a year now. We love our home, but we'd like to connect with more parents in our area. We're into travelling, swimming, outdoor sports, yoga, the cinema, musicals, ice-cream and cheese.
I'm also just getting back into teaching Hatha-yoga from home and to groups. I love it! My husband sells Antique oil paintings and is a Private personal trainer. We're lacto-vegetarian. We also cloth diaper our lil' boy, and are into breastfeeding and natural childbirth.
I'm in search of a massage, flute lessons, hair care, sewing lessons. I'm willing to trade/lend yoga lessons, spanish classes, baby clothes, & a changing table. Or maybe there's something else you may have in mind.
Please leave a comment if you're interested in a full or partial trade.
Be well, Ananga
P.S. - I'm also in need of hindu/spanish buddies and playmates for Nava.

This is a group for conscious mother figures who are on a tight budget or are trying to save money and have services and products to offer. I want this to be a positive community where those who want to save can come and save with others. One of the best ways to save money is to barter goods and services with other mothers. This group is designed to help all mothers network with others and barter mother-friendly goods and services. But we are more than a bartering list. We are a circle of women supporting each other in creating an atmosphere and environment of unity and community.
Here you can start trading goods or services with others without spending a lot of money. If you have a skill, trade, or something that you're looking to trade for, list it here and others can trade for other services, goods or skills! This is a place where what you have to offer or what you do matters and is of utmost importance. Whether you wanna call is bartering, trading, swapping – it’s a smart, fun way to get what you want & need! Simply list what you have for trade and/or are looking for and wait for a reply. Or review listings and contact individuals to inquire on the barters you are interested in.
Trade services like child care, yoga classes, doula, reiki sessions, aromatherapy, natural childbirth specialists, massage, chiropractic therapy, house cleaning, hair care, babysitting, piano lessons, language classes, cooking lessons, aerobic instruction, swimming lessons, wedding planning, art classes, skiing, snowboarding or skating lessons, tailoring, sewing lessons, singing lessons, pool cleaning, , dog walking, house sitting, lawn mowing, pottery classes, web design, life coaching, business consulting, personal training, etc… Or barter/lend items like baby clothes, maternity clothes, cloth diapers, beach/lawn chairs, camping equipment, massage table, bicycles, books, toys, coupons, videos, fabric goods, art, crafts, furniture, sewing equipment, gardening supplies, folding tables/chairs, and more.
Use your imagination. The skies the limit! Help build this community by sharing your wisdom & skills. There's so much we can do to help one another out. Let’s get going to make this an awesome trading, swapping, bartering and exchanging community. The rest is up to you. Spread the word!
If you're interested in joining just leave a comment telling us a little about you.
