When I was little, my mom ran a daycare in our home. Okay, I was little-ish, six or seven.
This daycare was probably the closest thing to a utopian communist society that will ever happen. =)
There were the beautiful kids: Katherine, Maria, Madalyn the little princess, her little sister Hannah. There were the normal-ish kids: me, Philip and MIchael (adorable brothers). Then there were the cool kids: my brother David (has Downs Syndrome), this boy Nathan who was autistic, but drew a car with crayons when he was to years old, Rachel, a BEAUTIFUL girl who had speech problems or something.
WE ALL LIKED EACH OTHER MOST OF THE TIME. The big kids helped the little kids do stuff. We all had our place and everyone felt needed and wanted. People respected other people's gifts and their weird habits. Everyone was included when things happened, unless they needed their space. We danced to classical music, sang songs and played sports in the back yard together.
I'd like to take Hawaii and put it into my mother's daycare. YEAAAAHHHHH.
Have a spiffy day! Melissa |
