phd/academic
Currently I mostly read and comment on other people's journals without writing my own. Or rather, I came back to keeping a paper journal in my native language.

I hope you do not mind if I look into your journal once in awhile.

Dear all,

Taking into account that these days, having a small baby, I am more busy than I used to be, I don't have time to follow properly all of your LJs. Therefore I have decided to remove some of you - mostly people who hardly update their journals (if at all) or with whom I hardly have any interaction.

However, if you enjoy reading my entries and don't mind that I don't have time to read yours - let me know and I will re-add you.

I hope no one will feel hurt.

Comments will be screened.

Your Score: Elinor Dashwood

62% romance, 48% sauciness, 56% etiquette, 73% intelligence

You're always aware of social obligations and have more than your fair share of sense. You would never say something out of anger or in poor taste. This may lead some (like, perhaps, your saucy little sister) to accuse you of being cold. Nothing could be further from the truth! It's just that you don't believe in making a scene. Respectable gentlemen everywhere swoon for you (though you'd never admit it). But you only have eyes for one. He is lucky to have you.

Ideal matches: Edward Ferrars, Mr. Knightley, Captain Wentworth

Guaranteed heartbreak: John Willoughby, John Thorpe

Not worthy of your affections: Frank Churchill, Captain Benwick

11th-Aug-2007 02:22 pm - Just thought I'd share
phd/academic
Finding some interesting RSS feeds on LJ is more complicated that finding a community (at least for those who, like me, don't have a paid account). Therefore I thought that I'd share a few of those that I have found and I like:

apod
Each day a different image or photograph of our fascinating universe is featured, along with a brief explanation written by a professional astronomer.

cuteoverload
It's a must if you love tiny kittens, doggies, hamsters and other cute stuff. ;)

desert_words
Christian meditations based on the writings of the Desert Fathers.

hist_shorpy
A must if you're into old photos!

j_austen_quotes
Daily quote from Jane Austen.

lent_beyond
A syndicated feed for a blog of great Anglican resources (prayers, meditations, lectionary readings).

newchristianyea
Christian daily meditations and quotations.

poradnia
Good resource for those speaking and/or studying Polish. :)

rijksfeed
Shows a different piece from the collection of the Rijksmuseum each day.

Last but not least, three interesting Christian blogs (of the Anglican and Catholic flavour):
maggi_d
cassandra_pages
wayofthefathers

Enjoy. And if you know of any interesting feeds, feel free to share!
7th-Aug-2007 10:00 pm - Friendocide :(
phd/academic
I tend to spend too much time on the LJ, so the time has come to cut down my friends' list. I hope nobody will feel hurt or offended - in most of the cases I hardly had time to comment in your LJs and there wasn't too much interaction between us anyway. Thank you for being with me and wishing you all the best on your way.
6th-Jun-2007 12:24 pm - It's official - I am weird
phd/academic
So, sovevuni, your LiveJournal reveals...

You are... 0% unique and 9% herdlike
(partly because you, like everyone else, enjoy tea).
When it comes to friends you are popular. In terms of the way you relate to people, you are wary of trusting strangers.

Your writing style (based on a recent public entry) is conventional.

Your overall weirdness is: 30

(The average level of weirdness is: 27.
You are weirder than 67% of other LJers.)

Information

Unhappiness in relationships, according to Dr. Gary Chapman, is often due to the fact that we speak different love languages. Sometimes we don't understand our partner's requirements, or even our own. We all have a "love tank" that needs to be filled in order for us to express love to others, but there are different means by which our tank can be filled, and there are different ways that we can express love to others.

27th-Apr-2007 10:15 pm - Friends list cut
phd/academic
I have decided to trim my friends' list a bit. I have removed those who haven't posted in a long time or those with whom I have no real contact. Please do not take it personally but I guess it's more reasonable to remove someone than to skip their entries on my friends' page.

Thank you for being with me and I wish you all the best.
