I'm officially closing st_xi_kink.

Not due to any recent problems, arguments, discussions or wank, may I add. Pure and simple: I'm back at school, and this year is one hell of a tough one. It's just... after one month, I simply cannot keep up with this comm. Many of you have probably noticed that, I'm sure. And I will, regrettably, not be taking requests to take it over. I don't know people well enough within STXI fandom to make an accurate judgement as to who might make a suitable choice; and first come, first serve has been attempted and has failed many times before. I don't think I could ever risk that happening to this community, selfish as that may be. I thought long and hard about this: simple closure is simply the way this is going to have to go, as sad as it may seem.

The current post will remain open, as will all others. But no new ones will be posted, and I want to emphasize this: I am stepping down as moderator. The post will be unmoderated. So please, it is at your own risk. I just cannot emphasise that enough.

This has been the single most incredible fandom activity I've ever run, guys. I tend to be very retiring within fandom, so to see so many people be just incredibly enthusiastic about a film I really adore has been just- wow! Amazing. Thank you all so, so much for allowing me the opportunity- and privelege- of modding for you all. I'm heartbroken to leave it, truly. This started out as a I'd-like-to-get-some-fic-from-a-new-fandom thing. I was never expecting beyond a thousand comments, especially not considering that when I started it up, the fanfic communities already established weren't exactly getting much traffic themselves.

You guys are insane like that. <3

(Also, whoever the hell wrote me the amazing biblical passages, can I just say that I have never laughed so hard in my life. Oh, and same for everyone who did the Vulcan pickup lines. Actually, I'll stop, because this meme made me laugh a lot.)

I gave up on replying in the other threads last post; there was some quite long discussion going on, and I was a little unsure of who should be replied to.

Let me make this very, very clear. I had taken for granted we all assumed this waaay back at the start of the meme, when I was unprepared for the size of this thing, and apparantly we didn't. Fair enough. Ten, twenty, fifty people assuming? Reasonable. But goodness knows how many people are here now.

So to put it bluntly.

Repeatedly post offensive shit when logged in and I will ban your account.

Posting offensive shit? Not OK.

I don't care that kink memes 'aren't politically correct!'.

There is a difference between a kink and showing your actual real life racism/sexism/whatever.

If there's a problem specific to this meme- like, say, treatment of Uhura- use some damn common sense and think that hey, whether *you* feel it's fair or not, it's a touchy subject for people and maybe you should consider your prompts about her character differently than other characters.

On another note, what counts as 'discussion'.

Discussion of prompts: when you're saying, 'do you mind if as well as A/B, there's D/C?', or 'hey, you said A did this, but it was actually B', or 'actually, in TOS, it was ____, not ____'. Short stuff needed for the writer/requester, or maybe people discussing their reasons for 'seconding', etc.

Discussion: when you're in a debate that has little to no bearing on what info you would need to theoretically write a prompt, but rather, is an in depth discussion sparked off by the prompt/a comment/etc, that's more along these lines.

Obviously this is a little arbitrary, vague, etc. But it's difficult to show a specific line where it's one or another.

Doesn't excuse them; but I am sorry.

I have been slightly scarce recently, for which I'd like to apologise profusely.

School's started up recently and to put it very mildly, it's been a bit hectic. As a result, I again have to say sorry to you all: for a week or so I will remain scarce.

I'll be around for the basics; new posts as needed, modding any disputes that may arise, etc. but if something is non essential, I'd really appreciate if you could hold onto it for a little while and contact me later on, when I have a bit more time.

On an unrelated note: people who repeatedly engage others in arguments etc. on the meme while logged in- ESPECIALLY if you pull the 'anonymous equals coward! stand up if you believe in your opinion!' card (considering this is an anon meme and the usual reason for said anon-ing is related more to 'whoopsie, KINK meme!')- will have their account banned. If anyone sees people repeatedly do this, I would really appreciate a couple of links PM'd to me- it can be hard to keep track of an entire meme, and you guys have been wonderful about alerting me to things before.

Oh, and to the people who engage others repeatedly, then PM me to report the other side? Please remember the rule is not 'no insulting/arguing/'incorrect' discussion of such things'. It's 'no discussion of such things, period'. So please, think before you post. I know many of you have good reasons for jumping in, and I know it can be really hard to walk away at something upsetting or offensive; but it just makes life so much easier for everyone if you can do so.

OK, just for the record:

I reserve the right to freeze (or if absolutely necessary, delete) threads if a prompt seems deliberately inflammatory (e.g. if, say, someone posts a thread about Uhura being 'uppity' or 'bitchy' after everyone is well aware that there has been hellish amounts of wank about that recently), offensive, etc.

This meme may be a public forum, but it's privately run. So as a result, as the mod, I will be making the final call on such issues. Not to say that I don't take input from others, but it's me that will make a finishing judgement, so to speak.

If you feel that a meme started and maintained by an individual should not be defined by said individual, but rather, by the people using it, this is not the meme for you.

This will not be changing. Ever.

Also! If you PM me, please have the option that allows other users to PM you turned on. Especially if you have no public posts I can comment on as an alternative. A lot of people PMing with the above request have it turned off and probably think we're elitest snobs ^^;

And one more thing: I do not currently have my laptop. As a result I am using my parent's PC. This is JUST as awkward as you'd expect given the fact that I run a huge outlet for written porn about a series they love. So I am only checking here when I am PMed, and once a day very quickly to check the comments to the main post.
