An idea to explore for the next main game (spoilers)
Fully simulated NPCs like Faye exist in a different speed than us organics. Explore a version 2.0 of Faye that isn't a mostly static depiction, but is changing over time like humans do, but she changes so fast it's as if she's a different person each time they meet her, and explore whether she *is* the same person, and whether we humans are the same as we continue, and then have Eva find love with a new PC character by following through her grief, and have Neil 2.0 find love with Faye 2.0

#fanfiction with at least some kind of happy endings

Actual neil will always have a sad ending though. because you appearantly have a deal with satan to drain my tear ducts

But... why? Frankly, I'm not even sure why we need The Last Hour, this story is over. Maybe it's time for Kan's genius to give birth to another narrative, something new entirely.

I think the overarching theme is about optimising grief in the face of reality and illusion, and we're all prone to peak-end bias, as Eva so beautifully pointed out in the end, so I don't think the lesson that should stay with us, of all of the beautiful lessons of the games, is that sometimes stories and before they reach their culmination (even though it's a reminder to use the time we have).

The end and purpose of grief is being able to and then starting something new. We forget the ones we love so we can love new people. Freud used to believe that depressions is a malfunction in the grief mechanism.

This was absolutely my take on it too - the story ended with IF, and while the Beachisode was a nice clarification TO that ending, the story's pretty well over IMO.

You absolutely DO NOT forget. Ever. I don't mean to be harsh, but that is NOT the point of grief.

Grief is about learning to function *even though* it hurts. Much like any kind of trauma, grief isn't about burying the bad thing but about learning how to cope with it - how to get hurt and keep moving forward. So I do think there's some room for the story to explore HOW - or if - Eva grieves and moves on; the Beachisode made it pretty clear that she's got the perfect tool to avoid ever having to grieve at all, the perfect little fantasy to help her stay where she is instead of moving forward. She never has to say goodbye, which she never got to do in real life anyway.

I'm still going to buy the next game when it comes out - I am curious where he's going with the story, and I'm sure it'll be beautiful even as it kicks my balls in.
I think this episode pretty sums up everything already.

However, if Gan can surprise me with an unexpected next great game in this series, I'm happy to play.
My thoughts on where the story goes from here, I think you can have 1-2 more entries on grief and what it means to process feelings and move past them rather than around them or living in them.

Followed by a new series in the same universe tonally different around sigmund corps destruction and the universe/ethics of the company.

To the moon might be ending soon (hopefully one more after last hour) But I dont think the universe of Sigmund corp needs to as there are plenty more stories to tell!
