For the medals with a type of aircraft only

Do they count the first 2 missions? Since those 2 missions forces you to fly the A/F-180c

Most the localizations of the game, to my understanding SPECIFICALLY say 'in missions where you can choose'. So missions where you aren't able to choose, aren't counted for the progression there.

Only missions where you can choose your aircraft.

So, basically, you have to fly the A-6E in one mission and the F-18C in the first mission. Other than that, you can select any aircraft you want for any mission.
