IIRC, all of the Ace Combat games other than Assault Horizon, Infinity, and Joint Assault, are set in Strangereal. That being said, the story of 8 largely makes sense if you've never played the other games.

X takes place a year after 7. JA is set in the real world, but all the AC games set in the real world are disconnected from each other.

Of the entirety of Ace Combat or 7? Can't tell you much about electrosphere because I've never played it.

I just searched on YT for a recap on AC7's story and all I got was a joke video from this youtuber called oboeshoesgames...

Correct but there's elements from previous games that only veterans of the series would know (IE playing 5 and knowing certain recurrences like 'Mother Goose One' as a nod in 7).

As for major story beats, some parts of 7 give more context to 8 but all the ace combat games can mostly be enjoyed stand alone.

Wrong, Zero takes place before AC2. AC2 takes place in 1997 while Zero takes place in 1995, and yes, the first ace combat "air combat" is still canon apparently according to the wiki so really in order it's Air Combat, Zero, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, X (skies of deception), then 8, and lastly 3
