Enable DLSS Frame Generation
Enable DLSS Frame Generation

AC8 already has Streamline and DLSS Frame Generation (DLSS-FG) included, but there’s currently no option to enable them from the in-game settings.

Normally, you could try enabling DLSS-G through the INI files, but the game seems to override the Streamline settings and disable it. I found a setting that prevents the game from doing that, allowing Streamline and DLSS Frame Generation to work.

Use this at your own risk, when playing online. I’m not sure how the anti-cheat handles modified INI files yet.

Installation

1. Press Win + R .
2. Copy and paste the following path:

%localappdata%\Bandai Namco Entertainment\ACE COMBAT 8\Saved\Config\Windows

3. Press Enter or click OK .

4. Create a new file named Engine.ini .

You can also copy your existing `GameUserSettings.ini`, rename the copy to `Engine.ini`, and replace its contents with the settings below.

5. Open `Engine.ini` and add:

[ConsoleVariables] r.Streamline.InitializePlugin = 1 r.Streamline.DLSSG.Enable = 1 t.Streamline.Reflex.Mode = 1

6. Save the file, then right-click Engine.ini → Properties and set it to Read-only .

NVIDIA Reflex

Reflex is also enabled with this setup.

If you want to use Reflex + Boost , change:

t.Streamline.Reflex.Mode = 1

to:

t.Streamline.Reflex.Mode = 2

Save the file and make sure Engine.ini is set to Read-only again afterward.

Disabling DLSS Frame Generation

If you want to remove or disable Frame Generation, simply delete Engine.ini from the folder above. The settings will no longer be applied the next time you launch the game.

Or just wait untill they will release this as part of an official patch.
For Radeon Users
I share Engine.ini for FSR Frame Generation
Note: It work with just the [ConsoleVariables] section, so i modified this code.

[/script/streamlinerhi.streamlinesettings] bEnableStreamlineD3D12=False bEnableStreamlineD3D11=False [ConsoleVariables] ; Temporal upscaler r.AntiAliasingMethod=4 r.TemporalAA.Upsampling=1 r.TemporalAA.Upscaler=1 ; Disable NVIDIA paths r.NGX.DLSS.Enable=0 r.Streamline.InitializePlugin=0 r.Streamline.DLSSG.Enable=0 t.Streamline.Reflex.Enable=0 ; FSR r.FidelityFX.FSR.Enabled=1 r.FidelityFX.FSR.RequestProvider=4 r.FidelityFX.FSR.QualityMode=1 ; Frame Generation r.FidelityFX.FI.Enabled=1 r.FidelityFX.FI.OverrideSwapChainDX12=1 r.FidelityFX.FI.AllowAsyncWorkloads=1 r.FidelityFX.FI.UIMode=1 r.FidelityFX.FI.ModifySlateDeltaTime=1
I wonder if this approach also will work for hotas setup? For that we have a similar issue that the game ignores the normal ini file if you create one.

We can hope.

Just did this, took literally 30 seconds to fix.
Thanks, worked great!
another option is to enable smooth motion in the nvidia app

Nice! Careful not to get banned though
This should be ok as far as I am playing on single player, right?

And I can not start the campaign after modifying, this is bad advise.

Anyone else have any luck with this change?
It Works, THX mate
Don't forget that on 50-series you can also dial it in further via NV App override. Rough observations in same cutscene:
no fg = 70 fps
x2 = 114 fps
x3 = 164 fps

There's overhead to enabling FG so don't be surprised that numbers are not exact multiples.

We don't know. EAC is enabled in single player as well in AC8, so it's no more or less "ok" than it is in multiplayer, but we don't know what the stance is on modified .ini's yet. They might ban everyone who does it, they might not care at all. For now, use caution - and if you want it for single player only you should probably just disable EAC. Not guaranteed, but safer.
