Minor Update [Version : 2.2.0]

Sep 22

The app has been updated to version 2.2.0.

Thank you for using VRHandsFrame!

Auto Translate Added

Hold the frame still over text in Translation mode and it automatically recognizes and translates the text, showing the translation right on top of it. No need to press the trigger and wait: you can read signs, menus, and chat messages in front of you just by looking at them.

While text is being tracked, the frame is held steady against hand shake, and the translation's background and text colors are matched to the original. If you reshape the frame after the translation appears, the text scales while keeping its aspect ratio.

Press the mode change trigger briefly to read the next piece of text, or press the capture trigger while the translation is shown to keep it as a bookmark.

The settings are grouped under "Auto Translate" (default ON) in the Translation tab.

When to Run (In Translation Mode / Always, default: In Translation Mode)
Set it to Always to see translations while staying in Photo or 2D Code mode.
Hold-Still Duration (default 0.6 s)
How long the frame must be held still before reading starts. This also applies to the automatic 2D code scan.
Stabilization (default ON)
Holds the frame steady against hand shake while text is being tracked.
Estimate Original Colors (default ON)
Matches the translation's background and text colors to the original.
Rescan Method (Trigger / Distance, default: Trigger)
Trigger moves on to the next target with a short press of the mode change trigger. Distance moves on when you move a hand farther than the Rescan Distance (default 5 cm).

Note: Auto Translate starts as soon as you hold the frame still. If you prefer to capture with the trigger and read the result on the translation result panel as before, set a longer Hold-Still Duration or turn Auto Translate off.

Display

Show the Frame (General tab, default ON) with a nested Frame Opacity slider (default 100%)
Fade or hide the frame image that appears with the pose so you can stay immersed. The hand icons and mode icons stay visible.

VRChat Integration

Send state to avatar parameters (Advanced tab, default OFF)
Sends whether the frame is displayed and whether a panel is held to VRChat avatar parameters (Bool parameters VRHFEnabled / VRHFGrabbed), so you can drive avatar gimmicks with them.
A sample gimmick for setting this up on your avatar is available on BOOTH.

Languages

Added 10 system languages
Greek / Romanian / Slovak / Slovenian / Danish / Hungarian / Bulgarian / Arabic / Hindi / Indonesian
If you were using VRHandsFrame before this update, the display language does not change automatically. Open VRHandsFrame's settings in the SteamVR dashboard and change it under "System Languages" in the Languages tab.

Other

Updated the tutorial content
The automatic 2D code scan now reads a code after the frame is held still over it, instead of the moment the frame passes over it
Added "When to Run" (In 2D Code Mode / Always, default: Always) to the automatic 2D code scan
Fixed settings items overlapping or becoming misaligned after changing the system language
Removed the legacy frame detection method
Reduced memory usage for overlay rendering and fonts
Fixed other minor issues

Tutorial pop-up incredibly close to face? Near-clipping issue?

Hello! I am using a Quest Pro with Valve Index controllers. When I launch the program, at first for a few days I thought it was not working but I could hear a little sound prompt so I thought it was just broken. Yesterday I noticed that there was what looks like the tutorial window frame on my hand or something? But it only shows up when it is incredibly close to my face where I cannot read it, and I can only view tiny bits of it at a time because it disappears further away. It also disappears when it ge...

Capture

Full View Capture (experimental, default OFF)
Widen the frame to cover your entire view, or bring it close to your face, and it snaps to the edges of your view so you can capture everything you see. Photos only — it does not apply to QR / translation capture.

Switch between the translated text and the original text
Click the language name button on the translation result panel (e.g. "Japanese → English") to switch between the translated text and the recognized original text. The language currently shown is highlighted, and Copy targets the text being displayed.

question

Following up on the "overlay invisible in VR but sound effects work" issue — I think I found the mechanism, and it may help. KEY POINT: IT IS INTERMITTENT, NOT PERMANENT On the same machine with the same configuration: - Restart SteamVR, wait until fully ready, then make the gesture -> sometimes it works - Start with no changes -> sometimes nothing shows So this is not a configuration error or a device incompatibility. It points to a startup timing race. Restar...
