Hey everyone!

The beta branch has been updated with new changes.

Sandbox mode

There is now a sandbox game mode available where you can experiment with different rune combinations. You also have access to several scrolls for easily spawning mobs so you can try out the spells in action. You can find it in the main menu.

Workshop support

The game now has a workshop browser where you can search, download and upload workshop mods. A restart is needed for downloaded mods to take effect.

Changes to netcode for joining games

I noticed that some players experienced issues when joining the game where they would immediately jump back to the main menu. Unfortunately, I have not been able to reproduce this on my end after several attempts but after searching around on forums I might at least have a clue to what could have happened. Hopefully the new changes fix the issue. If not, I will continue looking into this.

Quests

There are now quest givers in the game which are implemented using the Miniscript language. The quest givers are moddable and it is also possible to create your own quest givers with logic dialogs and responses with scripting callbacks such as onBeginInteract, onDialogRespond, onDialogClosed, etc.

In-game quick chat

You can access the quick chat by pressing T. There you will find different presets (let me know if you have any requests here).

Other changes

• Visual updates to text display talking to NPCs and reading signs and notes.

• Added more hairstyles for the character avatars.

• Fixed issue in level editor where it was no longer possible to copy/paste shapes.

Thank you for playing the game and for all the bug reports and feedback! It helps a lot.

Hello everyone!

The first version of the multiplayer beta test branch is now live!

To switch to the multiplayer branch, do the following:

1. Right-click on Runehaven in the Steam library and go to the "Properties" .

2. Select the "Game Versions & Betas" tab.

3. Check the "multiplayer-beta-test" branch.

4. Have fun!

Hosting a game

1. In the main menu, go to Multiplayer -> Host game.

2. Set the visiblity to FriendsOnly if you want friends to be able to join without an invite. Select Private if you only want invited friends to be able to join your game.

3. The rest works the same way as creating a new game in singleplayer.

Joining a game

This works similarly to other Steam games. The host can invite you or you can join the friend directly via the Steam friend list. You need to have the game running when doing this, I will work on making it possible to join a game when the game is closed.

Almost the entire codebase has been rewritten to make multiplayer work so you may come across bugs and other issues. So I will continue with testing and bug-fixing as well as adding some more features such as an in-game chat, optimizations, more hairstyles, body parts, etc. Also, an issue at the moment is that only the host player's inventory is saved at the moment due to the way the data is stored. I'm thinking of solving this by separating the world data from the character data so that you can create multiple characters that each have their own inventory locally.
